Romans 10:17

“So then faith cometh by hearing, and hearing by the word of God.”

How else can we expect our faith to be strengthened than by hearing the Word of God? Many so-called Christains want to claim to be faithful to God but deny His very Word. For some it is a lack of studying His Word. For others it is an outright denial of what His Word commands for His people.

Even those who claim to be the most avid of Bible students will read in their daily studys year after year the examples in God's Word of how God explains how the faith His people have in Him is strengthened and yet the same people will openly deny what God's Word says.

Look around us today. Maybe we all need to look in the mirror more often. God's people as a whole today are showing less faith in God than at any time throughout history.

Our faith is strengthened by hearing the Word of God. Whether through our daily study or the preaching of His Word. Hear God's Word today. Follow what He has for His people. “Trust in the LORD with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding.”

Luke 16:13

“No servant can serve two masters: for either he will hate the one, and love the other; or else he will hold to the one, and despise the other. Ye cannot serve God and mammon.”

Which will you serve today? God or mammon? Is following the world your desire? Why do you claim the name of Christ yet refuse to follow Him? You say you love the Lord, but you refuse His commandments. How is your witness for Christ to your friends and family? Or are they on the same page as you? Why not be a good servant and show them how to follow Christ rather than their own desires? Why not set the example in your circles of fellowship?

According to the verse above you cannot serve both. It is one or the other. If you want true peace and contentment in this life then serve God. Serving mammon will never bring joy and peace like serving our Heavenly Father.

Praise ye the Lord!!!

John 14:15

“If ye love me, keep my commandments.”

How much simpler can it be? If we love the Lord we will keep His commandments. But, why can't we? In this life we struggle daily with keeping the commandments of our Lord. And therein is the key. “In this life”.

In this life, a life filled with sin. In this life, a life lived in these old sinful bodies. In this life, a life lived amongst an unsaved and dying world.

“If ye love me” should be a wake up call to us all. Do we truly love our God? Are we the witness of our love for Him as we should be in this life? Do we love the Lord our God with all our hearts and all our minds and do our neighbors see this love within us?

Child of God, how much do you love the Lord thy God? Are you willing to follow His commandments for your life? Are you willing to follow Him wherever He may lead you in this life? Leave the sinful ways of this life and follow Christ. Seek His face in all things and follow Him.

Praise ye the Lord!!!

Job 37:5

“God thundereth marvellously with his voice; great things doeth he, which we cannot comprehend.”

Psalm 18:30-32

“30 As for God, his way is perfect: the word of the Lord is tried: he is a buckler to all those that trust in him.

31 For who is God save the Lord? or who is a rock save our God?

32 It is God that girdeth me with strength, and maketh my way perfect.”

In whom is your trust today? Yourself? Your political leaders? Your church leaders? Another person? Why? If we claim to be children of God then why is it so difficult to trust our God? With all the promises He has given us and all the times in the past we have seen those promises come to pass. Why are we so hung up on following the ways of an unsaved and dying world rather than faithfully following our Heavenly Father?

There are whole religious groups and even true churches who would rather follow the ways of the world than to follow the God we claim to serve and worship. There are individuals who claim the name of Christ who would rather seek the acceptance of the unsaved than that of God. Then we wonder why we don't see God's promises for His people come to pass in our lives.

If we fail to keep our trust in God then how can we expect God to send us the promises He has made to His faithful people?

Praise ye the Lord!!!

Proverbs 30:5

“5 Every word of God is pure: he is a shield unto them that put their trust in him.”

Where is our trust today? In God and His Word or in something else? Why do so many claim to seek God to shield them from the wiles of the devil and of this wicked world but show no trust in God whom they claim to seek? Many will take a single verse and use it falsely and try to claim God's promises.

God instructs His people to study His Word and to seek His truth therein. Our own whims and wants and wishes are nothing if they are not according to God's Word and according to God's will for us. But how do we know the truth and His will for us? By studying His Word and praying without ceasing.

Hebrews 4:14-16

“14 Seeing then that we have a great high priest, that is passed into the heavens, Jesus the Son of God, let us hold fast our profession.

15 For we have not an high priest which cannot be touched with the feeling of our infirmities; but was in all points tempted like as we are, yet without sin.

16 Let us therefore come boldly unto the throne of grace, that we may obtain mercy, and find grace to help in time of need.”

2 Corinthians 5:17

“Therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature: old things are passed away; behold, all things are become new.”

This time every year men and women are busy thinking up their list of New Year's Resolutions. But as I sit here thinking back on all the resolutions I have heard others make over the years, I don't remember anyone making a resolution to serve God more than they have in the past. No resolutions to love Christ so much they are willing to follow His commandments. Oh, no, most New Year's Resolutions deal with people's wants rather than their needs. Most, deep down, are rooted in greed and/or pride.

Before making New Year's Resolutions examine yourself and your list. Do you really intend on keeping them past tomorrow or next week? Do any of them involve leaving your sinful lifestyle and following after the ways of Christ?

What's the point in following the traditions of man when we could be following after Jesus Christ? If you love Him as much as you claim then follow His commandments and watch the life changes that come for His glory and not your own.

Praise ye the Lord!!!
