 Mark 14:12-17

“12 And the first day of unleavened bread, when they killed the passover, his disciples said unto him, Where wilt thou that we go and prepare that thou mayest eat the passover?

13 And he sendeth forth two of his disciples, and saith unto them, Go ye into the city, and there shall meet you a man bearing a pitcher of water: follow him.

14 And wheresoever he shall go in, say ye to the goodman of the house, The Master saith, Where is the guestchamber, where I shall eat the passover with my disciples?

15 And he will shew you a large upper room furnished and prepared: there make ready for us.

16 And his disciples went forth, and came into the city, and found as he had said unto them: and they made ready the passover.

17 And in the evening he cometh with the twelve.”

There are those Baptist out there today claiming it matters not what day or time we observe the Lord's death, burial, and resurrection. At King's Addition Baptist Church we do not observe the religious holy day of Easter. However, we do observe the telling of the gospel every time we meet. Whether it is in our singing of hymns or preaching/teaching or in our prayers. We teach and understand the scripture teaches clearly our Lord went to the cross on Wednesday afternoon, was taken down and placed in the tomb before the High Sabbath of Passover started at 6pm. Sometime before the sun rose(6am) on the morning of the first day of the week(Sunday) He arose a victor over death and the grave. That is a full 72 hours. 3 full nights and days. Any other telling of this account is simply a lie and does damage to the gospel itself. You may ask why or how does telling the version the religious world tells of Friday through Sunday damage the telling of the gospel? Because it is a great lie and takes away from the fulfilling of the Old Testament prophecies of the sacrifice made by the Messiah and the prophecies told by Christ Himself in His earthly ministry. The fact is if we can't tell the truth which is so clearly laid out for us what else are we preaching that is not truth? Our credibility and witness as Christians is ruined. The proclaiming of false doctrine, of changing the Word of God to fit our own narrative is damaging to the ministry the Lord has given us and is nothing short of blasphemy against God our Father and His Son Jesus Christ.

Some say it is more important what happened on the cross than when it happened. That sounds good on the surface. But, if we have the timeline wrong then what happened on the cross does not match up with the prophecies told of old. Therefore, destroying the telling of the truth of the gospel.

This year 2024, the religious world along with many Baptist are celebrating the resurrection of our Lord and Savior on March 31st. Passover this year is celebrated on April 22. Why is it that we cannot observe the Resurrection of our Risen Lord on the same day as it happened? Because so many of God's people would rather follow after the Romanish holy days than the Word of God. Again the scripture is clear. Look at Exodus 23 and Leviticus 23. God made it clear to the Nation of Israel what dates to observe the Days of Unleavened Bread and the Passover. These dates are set at the same time every year. These Hebrew Holy Days were a picture, a type, and a prophecy of the death, burial, and resurrection of the coming Messiah. And like the Jews in Jesus' day the religious world in our day have refused the truth of God's Holy Word. The Resurrection of our Lord and Savior coincided with the Passover celebration for a reason. It should still be observed the same today. But because there are pastors who would rather tickle the ears of their followers they will not preach the truth today in fear that the numbers of their folks will decrease and their coffers will dry up.

Brethren we are commanded to preach the truth, the whole truth, and the whole counsel of God. Some will say I am too harsh on these matters. Or that I am being legalistic. But others have made their ridicule of us who are not afraid to preach the truth legalistic. The Pharisees had become legalistic in their distorting of the Law of God. Just as some have become legalistic in their distorting the Word of God today. Preaching the truth is not legalism. Preaching a false doctrine and demanding others follow you and that false doctrine is legalism.

Leviticus 17:11

“For the life of the flesh is in the blood: and I have given it to you upon the altar to make an atonement for your souls: for it is the blood that maketh an atonement for the soul.”

Nothing but the Blood!!! Only the blood of Jesus Christ was good enough to make the atonement for the sins of His people. It was by the shedding of the blood of the Son of God that sealed our salvation and gave us eternal life. From the examples of the sacrifices commanded upon the nation of Israel in the Old Testament Law to the fulfilling of that Law by the Son of God Himself on the alter of the tree on Calvary. Giving all who believe that glorious free gift of eternal life. If it were not for the blood of Jesus Christ being offered as the sacrifice for our sins on that cross, we would not be who we are and whose we are today.

2 Corinthians 9:8-15

“8 And God is able to make all grace abound toward you; that ye, always having all sufficiency in all things, may abound to every good work:

9 (As it is written, He hath dispersed abroad; he hath given to the poor: his righteousness remaineth for ever.

10 Now he that ministereth seed to the sower both minister bread for your food, and multiply your seed sown, and increase the fruits of your righteousness;)

11 Being enriched in every thing to all bountifulness, which causeth through us thanksgiving to God.

12 For the administration of this service not only supplieth the want of the saints, but is abundant also by many thanksgivings unto God;

13 Whiles by the experiment of this ministration they glorify God for your professed subjection unto the gospel of Christ, and for your liberal distribution unto them, and unto all men;

14 And by their prayer for you, which long after you for the exceeding grace of God in you.

15 Thanks be unto God for his unspeakable gift.”

Proverbs 3:1-10

“1 My son, forget not my law; but let thine heart keep my commandments:

2 For length of days, and long life, and peace, shall they add to thee.

3 Let not mercy and truth forsake thee: bind them about thy neck; write them upon the table of thine heart:

4 So shalt thou find favour and good understanding in the sight of God and man.

5 Trust in the Lord with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding.

6 In all thy ways acknowledge him, and he shall direct thy paths.

7 Be not wise in thine own eyes: fear the Lord, and depart from evil.

8 It shall be health to thy navel, and marrow to thy bones.

John 4:5-26

“5 Then cometh he to a city of Samaria, which is called Sychar, near to the parcel of ground that Jacob gave to his son Joseph.

6 Now Jacob's well was there. Jesus therefore, being wearied with his journey, sat thus on the well: and it was about the sixth hour.

7 There cometh a woman of Samaria to draw water: Jesus saith unto her, Give me to drink.

8 (For his disciples were gone away unto the city to buy meat.)

9 Then saith the woman of Samaria unto him, How is it that thou, being a Jew, askest drink of me, which am a woman of Samaria? for the Jews have no dealings with the Samaritans.

10 Jesus answered and said unto her, If thou knewest the gift of God, and who it is that saith to thee, Give me to drink; thou wouldest have asked of him, and he would have given thee living water.

11 The woman saith unto him, Sir, thou hast nothing to draw with, and the well is deep: from whence then hast thou that living water?

12 Art thou greater than our father Jacob, which gave us the well, and drank thereof himself, and his children, and his cattle?

13 Jesus answered and said unto her, Whosoever drinketh of this water shall thirst again:

14 But whosoever drinketh of the water that I shall give him shall never thirst; but the water that I shall give him shall be in him a well of water springing up into everlasting life.

15 The woman saith unto him, Sir, give me this water, that I thirst not, neither come hither to draw.

16 Jesus saith unto her, Go, call thy husband, and come hither.

17 The woman answered and said, I have no husband. Jesus said unto her, Thou hast well said, I have no husband:

18 For thou hast had five husbands; and he whom thou now hast is not thy husband: in that saidst thou truly.

19 The woman saith unto him, Sir, I perceive that thou art a prophet.

20 Our fathers worshipped in this mountain; and ye say, that in Jerusalem is the place where men ought to worship.

21 Jesus saith unto her, Woman, believe me, the hour cometh, when ye shall neither in this mountain, nor yet at Jerusalem, worship the Father.

22 Ye worship ye know not what: we know what we worship: for salvation is of the Jews.

23 But the hour cometh, and now is, when the true worshippers shall worship the Father in spirit and in truth: for the Father seeketh such to worship him.

24 God is a Spirit: and they that worship him must worship him in spirit and in truth.

25 The woman saith unto him, I know that Messias cometh, which is called Christ: when he is come, he will tell us all things.

26 Jesus saith unto her, I that speak unto thee am he.”

14 That we henceforth be no more children, tossed to and fro, and carried about with every wind of doctrine, by the sleight of men, and cunning craftiness, whereby they lie in wait to deceive;

15 But speaking the truth in love, may grow up into him in all things, which is the head, even Christ:

16 From whom the whole body fitly joined together and compacted by that which every joint supplieth, according to the effectual working in the measure of every part, maketh increase of the body unto the edifying of itself in love.”

Luke 1:37

For with God nothing shall be impossible.”

O what a comforting thought!!! To know beyond a shadow of a doubt that our God is the one and only true God. To know all things were created by Him and for Him. To know God our Father chose us out of everyone else in His creation to be His children. To know He chose us and loved us and planned our lives before He created the Heavens and the Earth. To know He loved us so much He did not destroy Adam and Eve for their original sin and start over. He chose Noah and his family to carry on the human race after the flood when He had all rights to destroy His whole creation and start over. God set aside Israel from the nations in the days of Abraham, Issac, and Jacob to make a great nation unto Himself. A nation in which God the Father would send His only begotten Son through to be the one and only sacrifice, to be offered up on the altar of the cross and to raise Him up the third day. All because He loved His people. And even as hard as His people have tried to rebel against Him, He continues to draw us unto Himself and to love us in a way only God can. God our Father makes all things possible, according to His will all because He loves His chosen people.

6 For whom the Lord loveth he chasteneth, and scourgeth every son whom he receiveth.

7 If ye endure chastening, God dealeth with you as with sons; for what son is he whom the father chasteneth not?

8 But if ye be without chastisement, whereof all are partakers, then are ye bastards, and not sons.

9 Furthermore we have had fathers of our flesh which corrected us, and we gave them reverence: shall we not much rather be in subjection unto the Father of spirits, and live?

10 For they verily for a few days chastened us after their own pleasure; but he for our profit, that we might be partakers of his holiness.

11 Now no chastening for the present seemeth to be joyous, but grievous: nevertheless afterward it yieldeth the peaceable fruit of righteousness unto them which are exercised thereby.”

35 Pilate answered, Am I a Jew? Thine own nation and the chief priests have delivered thee unto me: what hast thou done?

36 Jesus answered, My kingdom is not of this world: if my kingdom were of this world, then would my servants fight, that I should not be delivered to the Jews: but now is my kingdom not from hence.

37 Pilate therefore said unto him, Art thou a king then? Jesus answered, Thou sayest that I am a king. To this end was I born, and for this cause came I into the world, that I should bear witness unto the truth. Every one that is of the truth heareth my voice.

Titus 2

“1 But speak thou the things which become sound doctrine:

2 That the aged men be sober, grave, temperate, sound in faith, in charity, in patience.

3 The aged women likewise, that they be in behaviour as becometh holiness, not false accusers, not given to much wine, teachers of good things;

4 That they may teach the young women to be sober, to love their husbands, to love their children,

5 To be discreet, chaste, keepers at home, good, obedient to their own husbands, that the word of God be not blasphemed.

6 Young men likewise exhort to be sober minded.

7 In all things shewing thyself a pattern of good works: in doctrine shewing uncorruptness, gravity, sincerity,

8 Sound speech, that cannot be condemned; that he that is of the contrary part may be ashamed, having no evil thing to say of you.

9 Exhort servants to be obedient unto their own masters, and to please them well in all things; not answering again;

10 Not purloining, but shewing all good fidelity; that they may adorn the doctrine of God our Saviour in all things.

11 For the grace of God that bringeth salvation hath appeared to all men,

12 Teaching us that, denying ungodliness and worldly lusts, we should live soberly, righteously, and godly, in this present world;

13 Looking for that blessed hope, and the glorious appearing of the great God and our Saviour Jesus Christ;

14 Who gave himself for us, that he might redeem us from all iniquity, and purify unto himself a peculiar people, zealous of good works.
