Jeremiah 34:17

“Therefore thus saith the Lord; Ye have not hearkened unto me, in proclaiming liberty, every one to his brother, and every man to his neighbour: behold, I proclaim a liberty for you, saith the Lord, to the sword, to the pestilence, and to the famine; and I will make you to be removed into all the kingdoms of the earth.”

Like God's people in the kingdom of Judah in the day of the Prophet Jeremiah, we see God's people today seeking a liberty not given by God. A liberty to sin, a liberty to follow false gods, a liberty to follow the lust of the flesh and the lust of the eyes and the pride of life. Are we any better than they? Has God promised not to chastise His own in our day? Just like in Jeremiah's day, today there is a remnant who are following the Lord in truth and who have the true liberty promised by our Heavenly Father.

Who/what do you follow today? Have you hearkened unto the Word of God and are proclaiming the liberty He promised or are you following the false liberty promised by man? “Seek ye first the kingdom of God.”

Jeremiah 6:13-20

“13 For from the least of them even unto the greatest of them every one is given to covetousness; and from the prophet even unto the priest every one dealeth falsely.

14 They have healed also the hurt of the daughter of my people slightly, saying, Peace, peace; when there is no peace.

15 Were they ashamed when they had committed abomination? nay, they were not at all ashamed, neither could they blush: therefore they shall fall among them that fall: at the time that I visit them they shall be cast down, saith the Lord.

16 Thus saith the Lord, Stand ye in the ways, and see, and ask for the old paths, where is the good way, and walk therein, and ye shall find rest for your souls. But they said, We will not walk therein.

17 Also I set watchmen over you, saying, Hearken to the sound of the trumpet. But they said, We will not hearken.

18 Therefore hear, ye nations, and know, O congregation, what is among them.

19 Hear, O earth: behold, I will bring evil upon this people, even the fruit of their thoughts, because they have not hearkened unto my words, nor to my law, but rejected it.

20 To what purpose cometh there to me incense from Sheba, and the sweet cane from a far country? your burnt offerings are not acceptable, nor your sacrifices sweet unto me.”

Why is it God's people in our nation think we are better than the Nation of Israel of the Old Testament? We see many of the same sins being committed by God's people today as we read about in their day. Because of the love of the flesh and the pride of life we think we are exempt from the chastisement of our Heavenly Father.

Praise ye the Lord!!!

1 John 2:15-17

“15 Love not the world, neither the things that are in the world. If any man love the world, the love of the Father is not in him.

16 For all that is in the world, the lust of the flesh, and the lust of the eyes, and the pride of life, is not of the Father, but is of the world.

17 And the world passeth away, and the lust thereof: but he that doeth the will of God abideth for ever.”

We are in the season of the year when many of God's people will forsake the truth of God's Word for their love of the world. Pastor's who once preached the truth are now leading their congregations down the slippery slope of letting a little leaven into the church they pastor.

We are told many in the world are seeking God this time of year. But, if that be the case then why are there so many man made lies told about our Lord's birth? Why are God's people not out there proclaiming the truth of God's Word instead of following the doctrines of devils? How can we expect people to believe the the truth of the Gospel of Jesus Christ when we refuse to take a stand for the truth of His earthly birth?

Even the unsaved see the hypocrisy of the religious world during this time. In the early chapters of the Book of Matthew and the Book of Luke we see the story of our Lord's birth laid out very simply in words even a child can understand. Yet, “educated” adults have knowingly changed the story to suit their own narrative. It is sad there are so many who rightfully divide the truth of God's Word throughout the year, but when it comes to the end of the year and the desire to draw a crowd they will come up with every excuse imaginable to flee the truth for the love of the world.

It all comes down to this: “the lust of the flesh, and the lust of the eyes, and the pride of life.”

Zechariah 8:16-17

“16 These are the things that ye shall do; Speak ye every man the truth to his neighbour; execute the judgment of truth and peace in your gates:

17 And let none of you imagine evil in your hearts against his neighbour; and love no false oath: for all these are things that I hate, saith the Lord.”

Psalm 19:7-14

“7 The law of the Lord is perfect, converting the soul: the testimony of the Lord is sure, making wise the simple.

8 The statutes of the Lord are right, rejoicing the heart: the commandment of the Lord is pure, enlightening the eyes.

9 The fear of the Lord is clean, enduring for ever: the judgments of the Lord are true and righteous altogether.

10 More to be desired are they than gold, yea, than much fine gold: sweeter also than honey and the honeycomb.

11 Moreover by them is thy servant warned: and in keeping of them there is great reward.

12 Who can understand his errors? cleanse thou me from secret faults.

13 Keep back thy servant also from presumptuous sins; let them not have dominion over me: then shall I be upright, and I shall be innocent from the great transgression.

14 Let the words of my mouth, and the meditation of my heart, be acceptable in thy sight, O Lord, my strength, and my redeemer.”

Proverbs 25:25

“As cold waters to a thirsty soul, so is good news from a far country.”

One of the blessings our Lord has provided us with modern technology has been the ability to hear from brothers and sisters in Christ from all over the world. What a joy it is to hear/read of the stories of those whom our Lord has blessed in other lands.

Genesis 8:20-22

“20 And Noah builded an altar unto the Lord; and took of every clean beast, and of every clean fowl, and offered burnt offerings on the altar.

21 And the Lord smelled a sweet savour; and the Lord said in his heart, I will not again curse the ground any more for man's sake; for the imagination of man's heart is evil from his youth; neither will I again smite any more every thing living, as I have done.

22 While the earth remaineth, seedtime and harvest, and cold and heat, and summer and winter, and day and night shall not cease."
