Psalm 21

“The king shall joy in thy strength, O Lord; and in thy salvation how greatly shall he rejoice! Thou hast given him his heart's desire, and hast not withholden the request of his lips. Selah. For thou preventest him with the blessings of goodness: thou settest a crown of pure gold on his head. He asked life of thee, and thou gavest it him, even length of days for ever and ever. His glory is great in thy salvation: honour and majesty hast thou laid upon him. For thou hast made him most blessed for ever: thou hast made him exceeding glad with thy countenance. For the king trusteth in the Lord, and through the mercy of the most High he shall not be moved. Thine hand shall find out all thine enemies: thy right hand shall find out those that hate thee. Thou shalt make them as a fiery oven in the time of thine anger: the Lord shall swallow them up in his wrath, and the fire shall devour them. Their fruit shalt thou destroy from the earth, and their seed from among the children of men. For they intended evil against thee: they imagined a mischievous device, which they are not able to perform. Therefore shalt thou make them turn their back, when thou shalt make ready thine arrows upon thy strings against the face of them. Be thou exalted, Lord, in thine own strength: so will we sing and praise thy power.”

Philppians 4:4

“Rejoice in the Lord always: and again I say, Rejoice.”

O dear child of God, we have so much to rejoice about in our Lord!!! So much so we have no lack of rejoicing in Him.

In this verse Paul reminds us to always rejoice in our Lord. With everything we do; Rejoice!!! Never let our rejoicing in Him stop or come to an end. Our Lord and Savior has done so much for us. So much more than we can ever repay. So much for us to rejoice over. O what a Savior!!! O what a love He has for us!!! O what Savior!!!

Praise Him!!! Rejoice in Him!!! Always!!!

John 16:33

“These things I have spoken unto you, that in me ye might have peace. In the world ye shall have tribulation: but be of good cheer; I have overcome the world.”

As the children of God we are not promised peace in this old sinful world. As God's children we are under attack constantly by the powers that be to make sure we are not the witnesses we should be to the lost. We are tempted to fail our Lord in many different ways. And sometimes the battle becomes more than we think we can bare. But our Lord is with us. He is right there with us the whole time ready to bring us comfort and peace. Even in the heat of the battle our Lord offers us His peace.

Then why do we so many time refuse our Lord? Why do we stumble and fall? Why do we become so weak and battle weary? When all the time we just needed to trust Him. All the while all we had to do was to lay our burdens and problems in Him. Many times our pride over takes us and we think we can handle it all on our own. But nothing could be further from the truth. Without Him we are nothing.

Remember our Lord is not the one who left us. We have left Him. Even though He is right there with us the whole time. We refuse the peace and comfort He has promised.

O child of God stop being stubborn. Stop looking to self for the comfort and peace that only our Lord and Savior can and will provide. Rest in Him.

The mountains skipped like rams, and the little hills like lambs. What ailed thee, O thou sea, that thou fleddest? thou Jordan, that thou wast driven back? Ye mountains, that ye skipped like rams; and ye little hills, like lambs? Tremble, thou earth, at the presence of the Lord, at the presence of the God of Jacob; Which turned the rock into a standing water, the flint into a fountain of waters.”

“The Lord said unto my Lord, Sit thou at my right hand, until I make thine enemies thy footstool. The Lord shall send the rod of thy strength out of Zion: rule thou in the midst of thine enemies. Thy people shall be willing in the day of thy power, in the beauties of holiness from the womb of the morning: thou hast the dew of thy youth. The Lord hath sworn, and will not repent, Thou art a priest for ever after the order of Melchizedek. The Lord at thy right hand shall strike through kings in the day of his wrath. He shall judge among the heathen, he shall fill the places with the dead bodies; he shall wound the heads over many countries. He shall drink of the brook in the way: therefore shall he lift up the head.”

1 Corinthians 6:19-20

“What? know ye not that your body is the temple of the Holy Ghost which is in you, which ye have of God, and ye are not your own? For ye are bought with a price: therefore glorify God in your body, and in your spirit, which are God's.”



In this day and time we live in we commonly think of these verses as pertaining to the latest fad of tatoos and body pierceings. And though it is true these acts are to be considered here, but what about the topic Paul was discussing with the Corinthian church in the verses before this? In verses 12-18 Paul is expressly warning the church about fornication. From what Paul writes here there must have been a problem with fornication in the church at Corinth.
Fornication and adultery are talked about many times in the New Testiment. Jesus spoke of it while in His earthly ministry. Paul spoke of it often in his letters to the different churches. And some of the other writers spoke of such. Everytime it is spoken of in God's Word it is considered an abomination unto the God. Why? Why is God so hard on those who fornicate? Look at the question and the answer to the question Paul writes in verse 19. “What? Know ye not that your body is the temple of the Holy Ghost which is in you, which ye have of God, and ye are not your own?”
Why is God so hard on those who fornicate? Because His Holy Spirit lives within us. Our bodies are the temple in which the Holy Spirit of God dwells while we live on this earth. We no longer belong to ourselves. In verse 20 Paul tells us we are bought with a price. What price? Who paid the price? How can we forget so easily the price our Lord and Savior paid for His own?
O dear child of God, if you are living in fornication and adultery, come out of that sin. Remember who you belong to. Remember whose you are and who you are. Remember your body is the temple of the Holy Spirit of God. It is not your own. You were bought with a price. The price was paid by the shedding of Christ's blood on the tree. He paid the price for you with His own life so that so can live. Show Him the respect of staying true to His Word and to His commandments.
O what a price He paid for us!!! O what a shame it is for us to so easily forget we belong to Him and not ourselves.
This morning we have looked at physical fornication and adultery. But these verses cover way more than that. We as God's people have so many things in our lives that can be applied to this. Yes, I know the topic Paul was writing of here. But if we are to look at this as our bodies being the temple of the Holy Spirit then we must look at all things we do that affects our bodies. Many of us are glutens. Some may be smokers or drinkers. Many eat and drink things that, even though Paul says they are lawful for us to eat and drink, they are not good for our bodies, even when in moderation. Some may abuse their bodies in other ways. Also, what about our eyes and ears? How many of us see and hear things that are not pleasing to our Lord? How many movies and television shows do we watch that are ungodly? The list goes on and on.
So, as children of God, we must be diligent in our actions, in our what we watch, in what we listen to, in what we eat and drink. Be good stewards of the temple of the Lord that He has entrusted us with.

Psalm 109

“Hold not thy peace, O God of my praise; For the mouth of the wicked and the mouth of the deceitful are opened against me: they have spoken against me with a lying tongue. They compassed me about also with words of hatred; and fought against me without a cause. For my love they are my adversaries: but I give myself unto prayer. And they have rewarded me evil for good, and hatred for my love. Set thou a wicked man over him: and let Satan stand at his right hand. When he shall be judged, let him be condemned: and let his prayer become sin. Let his days be few; and let another take his office. Let his children be fatherless, and his wife a widow. Let his children be continually vagabonds, and beg: let them seek their bread also out of their desolate places. Let the extortioner catch all that he hath; and let the strangers spoil his labour. Let there be none to extend mercy unto him: neither let there be any to favour his fatherless children. Let his posterity be cut off; and in the generation following let their name be blotted out. “O give thanks unto the Lord, for he is good: for his mercy endureth for ever. Let the redeemed of the Lord say so, whom he hath redeemed from the hand of the enemy; And gathered them out of the lands, from the east, and from the west, from the north, and from the south. They wandered in the wilderness in a solitary way; they found no city to dwell in. Hungry and thirsty, their soul fainted in them. Then they cried unto the Lord in their trouble, and he delivered them out of their distresses. And he led them forth by the right way, that they might go to a city of habitation. Oh that men would praise the Lord for his goodness, and for his wonderful works to the children of men! For he satisfieth the longing soul, and filleth the hungry soul with goodness. Such as sit in darkness and in the shadow of death, being bound in affliction and iron; Because they rebelled against the words of God, and contemned the counsel of the most High: Therefore he brought down their heart with labour; they fell down, and there was none to help. “Praise ye the Lord. Blessed is the man that feareth the Lord, that delighteth greatly in his commandments. His seed shall be mighty upon earth: the generation of the upright shall be blessed. Wealth and riches shall be in his house: and his righteousness endureth for ever. Unto the upright there ariseth light in the darkness: he is gracious, and full of compassion, and righteous. A good man sheweth favour, and lendeth: he will guide his affairs with discretion. Surely he shall not be moved for ever: the righteous shall be in everlasting remembrance. He shall not be afraid of evil tidings: his heart is fixed, trusting in the Lord. His heart is established, he shall not be afraid, until he see his desire upon his enemies. He hath dispersed, he hath given to the poor; his righteousness endureth for ever; his horn shall be exalted with honour. The wicked shall see it, and be grieved; he shall gnash with his teeth, and melt away: the desire of the wicked shall perish.”

“Praise ye the Lord. O give thanks unto the Lord; for he is good: for his mercy endureth for ever. Who can utter the mighty acts of the Lord? who can shew forth all his praise? Blessed are they that keep judgment, and he that doeth righteousness at all times. Remember me, O Lord, with the favour that thou bearest unto thy people: O visit me with thy salvation; That I may see the good of thy chosen, that I may rejoice in the gladness of thy nation, that I may glory with thine inheritance. We have sinned with our fathers, we have committed iniquity, we have done wickedly. Our fathers understood not thy wonders in Egypt; they remembered not the multitude of thy mercies; but provoked him at the sea, even at the Red sea. Nevertheless he saved them for his name's sake, that he might make his mighty power to be known. They joined themselves also unto Baalpeor, and ate the sacrifices of the dead. Thus they provoked him to anger with their inventions: and the plague brake in upon them. Then stood up Phinehas, and executed judgment: and so the plague was stayed. And that was counted unto him for righteousness unto all generations for evermore. They angered him also at the waters of strife, so that it went ill with Moses for their sakes: Because they provoked his spirit, so that he spake unadvisedly with his lips. They did not destroy the nations, concerning whom the Lord commanded them: But were mingled among the heathen, and learned their works. And they served their idols: which were a snare unto them. Yea, they sacrificed their sons and their daughters unto devils, And shed innocent blood, even the blood of their sons and of their daughters, whom they sacrificed unto the idols of Canaan: and the land was polluted with blood. Thus were they defiled with their own works, and went a whoring with their own inventions. Therefore was the wrath of the Lord kindled against his people, insomuch that he abhorred his own inheritance. And he gave them into the hand of the heathen; and they that hated them ruled over them. Their enemies also oppressed them, and they were brought into subjection under their hand. Many times did he deliver them; but they provoked him with their counsel, and were brought low for their iniquity. Nevertheless he regarded their affliction, when he heard their cry: And he remembered for them his covenant, and repented according to the multitude of his mercies. He made them also to be pitied of all those that carried them captives. Save us, O Lord our God, and gather us from among the heathen, to give thanks unto thy holy name, and to triumph in thy praise. “O give thanks unto the Lord; call upon his name: make known his deeds among the people. Sing unto him, sing psalms unto him: talk ye of all his wondrous works. Glory ye in his holy name: let the heart of them rejoice that seek the Lord. Seek the Lord, and his strength: seek his face evermore. Remember his marvellous works that he hath done; his wonders, and the judgments of his mouth; O ye seed of Abraham his servant, ye children of Jacob his chosen. He is the Lord our God: his judgments are in all the earth. He hath remembered his covenant for ever, the word which he commanded to a thousand generations. “Bless the Lord, O my soul. O Lord my God, thou art very great; thou art clothed with honour and majesty. Who coverest thyself with light as with a garment: who stretchest out the heavens like a curtain: Who layeth the beams of his chambers in the waters: who maketh the clouds his chariot: who walketh upon the wings of the wind: Who maketh his angels spirits; his ministers a flaming fire: Who laid the foundations of the earth, that it should not be removed for ever. Thou coveredst it with the deep as with a garment: the waters stood above the mountains. At thy rebuke they fled; at the voice of thy thunder they hasted away. They go up by the mountains; they go down by the valleys unto the place which thou hast founded for them. Thou hast set a bound that they may not pass over; that they turn not again to cover the earth. He sendeth the springs into the valleys, which run among the hills. They give drink to every beast of the field: the wild asses quench their thirst. By them shall the fowls of the heaven have their habitation, which sing among the branches. Psalm 103

“Bless the Lord, O my soul: and all that is within me, bless his holy name. Bless the Lord, O my soul, and forget not all his benefits: Who forgiveth all thine iniquities; who healeth all thy diseases; Who redeemeth thy life from destruction; who crowneth thee with lovingkindness and tender mercies; Who satisfieth thy mouth with good things; so that thy youth is renewed like the eagle's. The Lord executeth righteousness and judgment for all that are oppressed. He made known his ways unto Moses, his acts unto the children of Israel. The Lord is merciful and gracious, slow to anger, and plenteous in mercy. He will not always chide: neither will he keep his anger for ever. He hath not dealt with us after our sins; nor rewarded us according to our iniquities. For as the heaven is high above the earth, so great is his mercy toward them that fear him. As far as the east is from the west, so far hath he removed our transgressions from us. Like as a father pitieth his children, so the Lord pitieth them that fear him. For he knoweth our frame; he remembereth that we are dust. As for man, his days are as grass: as a flower of the field, so he flourisheth. For the wind passeth over it, and it is gone; and the place thereof shall know it no more. But the mercy of the Lord is from everlasting to everlasting upon them that fear him, and his righteousness unto children's children; To such as keep his covenant, and to those that remember his commandments to do them. Mark 14:38

“Watch ye and pray, lest ye enter into temptation. The spirit truly is ready, but the flesh is weak.”

O dear child of God, are you in continuous prayer with our Heavenly Father? Are you watching and praying? Or are you following after the temptations of this world and the enemy of God?

Yes, the Spirit in us is willing to follow our Lord. But our flesh? Our flesh is weak and easily persuaded. Constantly trying to lead us astray. It is our flesh that satan so readily attacks at every opprotunity. It is our flesh that still craves the spices and the seasonings of Egypt. But we are commanded to follow the Spirit not the flesh. Fore the Spirit leads to life and the flesh leads to death.

Watch ye and pray!!! Stay in continuous prayer with our Heavenly Father. Follow our Lord and Savior in all things and all thoughts. Flee from the temptations of the world. Never look back. Keep your sight on the prize ahead of us. Follow Christ!!!

“Keep not thou silence, O God: hold not thy peace, and be not still, O God. For, lo, thine enemies make a tumult: and they that hate thee have lifted up the head. They have taken crafty counsel against thy people, and consulted against thy hidden ones. They have said, Come, and let us cut them off from being a nation; that the name of Israel may be no more in remembrance.
