2 Timothy 2:15-16
"15 Study to shew thyself approved unto God, a workman
that needeth not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth.
16 But shun profane and vain babblings: for they will
increase unto more ungodliness."
How often we read and expound and contemplate over verse 15.
And well we should. Our lives as the children of God must be filled with the
study and the constant consumption of God's Holy Word. But so many of us today
seem to find more pleasure(or rather worldly lust) in reading and studying
after those writers who care nothing for the God we claim to love.
We often wonder why each generation seems to stray further
from the truth and the knowledge of Godly living. Yet we continue to introduce
and promote profane and vain babblings rather than the goodness and truth of
godly teaching and instruction.
Through Paul, God taught the young preacher and future
pastor to always preach the truth and to be well studied in the Word of God.
God also made these inspired writings of Paul part of His Holy Scripture so
future generations of preachers and pastors would learn how to conduct
themselves in the ministry God would give them.
As God's children we should expect these things from the men
who are called to preach. Yet for many they sit there service after service
listening to philosophies and ramblings and personal thoughts of men who follow
after the worldly teachings of others who have refused to follow the
commandments and teachings of our Lord.
Preachers, follow the Lord in all you do. Be the example God
has commanded us to be. Study to shew thyself approved unto God. Concern
yourself not with the false doctrine of self-glorifying men. Preach the Word of
God. Shun the profane and vain babblings of those who follow not after our
Lord.
Child of God, hold those that preach to these things. Be in
constant prayer for the man of God as he studies and preaches. Study God's Word
daily so that you will know truth from false teaching. Study what the preacher
preachs to see if it is of God. Be like the Bereans.
Praise ye the Lord!!!
