Morning Devotional July 20, 2019

Romans 6:12-14
“12 Let not sin therefore reign in your mortal body, that ye should obey it in the lusts thereof.
13 Neither yield ye your members as instruments of unrighteousness unto sin: but yield yourselves unto God, as those that are alive from the dead, and your members as instruments of righteousness unto God.
14 For sin shall not have dominion over you: for ye are not under the law, but under grace.”
Sin is like a cancer. Eating away at our faith in our Lord like a cancer eats away at our mortal body. Though sin can not totally destroy our soul as cancer does a body, left unchecked it can greatly damage our relationship with our Heavenly Father. In the Old Testament we see this very thing with the nation of Israel when they followed after those who God told them to stay away from. They incorporated their worship of false gods with their form of worship to God. Sound familiar?
As God's children, we are warned over and over again in His Word to flee the lust of the world. He warns us to be separate from the world and to not be unequally yolked together with nonbelievers. Yet everyday we find ourselves doing these very things. Maybe, in some cases it is unavoidable because of our jobs our a family member our where we shop. But how far do we take it? It's one thing to friend someone in hopes of leading them to Christ. But how far do we take that friendship? Is our faith strong enough to set the example to those around us or do we ourselves just try to fit in with the crowd? Do we pray for boldness to proclaim Christ to a lost and dying world before we go out every morning? Not necessarily in words but also in our actions and deeds. Do our prayers and alms giving go up before God as a memorial as did those of Cornelius?
Though we see and hear the lust of the world around us, we cannot let it come in and consume us. Remember, “a little leaven leaveneth the whole lump”.
Praise ye the Lord!!!
