Morning Devotional August 24, 2019

Working for Our Lord.
Exodus 34:21
“Six days thou shalt work, but on the seventh day thou shalt rest: in earing time and in harvest thou shalt rest.”

This was a commandment to God's people concerning physical work.
But to His church, His Bride, we are commanded this:

1 Corinthians 15:58
“Therefore, my beloved brethren, be ye stedfast, unmoveable, always abounding in the work of the Lord, forasmuch as ye know that your labour is not in vain in the Lord.”

Sure, we need our physical rest after a work filled day and/or week. But when it comes to spiritual matters we are not told to rest but to work. There is no mention of a day of spiritual rest for the Lord's churches in the New Testament. Not until we leave this life. Whether it is by physical death in this life or by rapture when the Bridegroom comes and calls His Bride. We are to be about out Master's business while we are here.
We must always be on our toes in this spiritual battle we fight in this life. Even when our bodies grow weak and need rest, the spiritual battles continue. And though we get weary and our faith may falter at times, our Lord is always with us to give us a bit of rest when needed and to strengthen us and prepare us for the next fight. No mention of surrender or retirement in God's Word for His people. Neither sickness nor old age should prevent us from our Lord's work. If we will just turn to Him and rely on our Lord and not ourselves.

Praise ye the Lord!!!
