John 12:44-50
“44 Jesus cried and said, He that believeth on me, believeth not on me, but on him that sent me.

45 And he that seeth me seeth him that sent me.

46 I am come a light into the world, that whosoever believeth on me should not abide in darkness.

47 And if any man hear my words, and believe not, I judge him not: for I came not to judge the world, but to save the world.

48 He that rejecteth me, and receiveth not my words, hath one that judgeth him: the word that I have spoken, the same shall judge him in the last day.

49 For I have not spoken of myself; but the Father which sent me, he gave me a commandment, what I should say, and what I should speak.

50 And I know that his commandment is life everlasting: whatsoever I speak therefore, even as the Father said unto me, so I speak.”

Luke 21:34-38
“34 And take heed to yourselves, lest at any time your hearts be overcharged with surfeiting, and drunkenness, and cares of this life, and so that day come upon you unawares.

35 For as a snare shall it come on all them that dwell on the face of the whole earth.

36 Watch ye therefore, and pray always, that ye may be accounted worthy to escape all these things that shall come to pass, and to stand before the Son of man.

37 And in the day time he was teaching in the temple; and at night he went out, and abode in the mount that is called the mount of Olives.

38 And all the people came early in the morning to him in the temple, for to hear him.”

Psalm 71:14-19
“But I will hope continually, and will yet praise thee more and more. My mouth shall shew forth thy righteousness and thy salvation all the day; for I know not the numbers thereof. I will go in the strength of the Lord God: I will make mention of thy righteousness, even of thine only. O God, thou hast taught me from my youth: and hitherto have I declared thy wondrous works. Now also when I am old and greyheaded, O God, forsake me not; until I have shewed thy strength unto this generation, and thy power to every one that is to come. Thy righteousness also, O God, is very high, who hast done great things: O God, who is like unto thee!”

Acts 13:40-41
“40 Beware therefore, lest that come upon you, which is spoken of in the prophets;

41 Behold, ye despisers, and wonder, and perish: for I work a work in your days, a work which ye shall in no wise believe, though a man declare it unto you.”

In every age there have been who have scoffed at the preaching of God's Word. We see it especially in the days leading up to the captivity of Israel and Judah in the Old Testament and again in the New Testament as the Apostles and preachers were sent out by the first churches. Even in our own time we see people who scoff and the warnings from God's Word. And though the men God uses to preach His message are always in the minority, even in their own circles, God gives them the strength to stand strong and gives them the truth He wants the people to hear. But often times they refuse to hear. So wrapped up in their own sin of pride they refuse the very Word of God they claim to believe.

The same warnings preached by the Prophets and the Apostles must be preached today. Even in our time of despair. The Lord's warnings are the same. Repent of your wicked ways and follow the Lord!!!

The message is still the same. God's Word does not change. Our Lord is the same yesterday, today, and forever.

Psalm 111
“Praise ye the Lord. I will praise the Lord with my whole heart, in the assembly of the upright, and in the congregation. The works of the Lord are great, sought out of all them that have pleasure therein. His work is honourable and glorious: and his righteousness endureth for ever. He hath made his wonderful works to be remembered: the Lord is gracious and full of compassion. He hath given meat unto them that fear him: he will ever be mindful of his covenant. He hath shewed his people the power of his works, that he may give them the heritage of the heathen. The works of his hands are verity and judgment; all his commandments are sure. They stand fast for ever and ever, and are done in truth and uprightness. He sent redemption unto his people: he hath commanded his covenant for ever: holy and reverend is his name. The fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom: a good understanding have all they that do his commandments: his praise endureth for ever.”

Mark 9:14-29
“14 And when he came to his disciples, he saw a great multitude about them, and the scribes questioning with them.

15 And straightway all the people, when they beheld him, were greatly amazed, and running to him saluted him.

16 And he asked the scribes, What question ye with them?

17 And one of the multitude answered and said, Master, I have brought unto thee my son, which hath a dumb spirit;

18 And wheresoever he taketh him, he teareth him: and he foameth, and gnasheth with his teeth, and pineth away: and I spake to thy disciples that they should cast him out; and they could not.

19 He answereth him, and saith, O faithless generation, how long shall I be with you? how long shall I suffer you? bring him unto me.

20 And they brought him unto him: and when he saw him, straightway the spirit tare him; and he fell on the ground, and wallowed foaming.

21 And he asked his father, How long is it ago since this came unto him? And he said, Of a child.

22 And ofttimes it hath cast him into the fire, and into the waters, to destroy him: but if thou canst do any thing, have compassion on us, and help us.

23 Jesus said unto him, If thou canst believe, all things are possible to him that believeth.

24 And straightway the father of the child cried out, and said with tears, Lord, I believe; help thou mine unbelief.

25 When Jesus saw that the people came running together, he rebuked the foul spirit, saying unto him, Thou dumb and deaf spirit, I charge thee, come out of him, and enter no more into him.

26 And the spirit cried, and rent him sore, and came out of him: and he was as one dead; insomuch that many said, He is dead.

27 But Jesus took him by the hand, and lifted him up; and he arose.

28 And when he was come into the house, his disciples asked him privately, Why could not we cast him out?

29 And he said unto them, This kind can come forth by nothing, but by prayer and fasting.”

I wonder how many of God's people have thought to pray and fast today? With all that is going on around the world and locally. Maybe this is why we are such a faithless generation. There needs to be more tears and more “Lord, I believe; help thou mine unbelief.”

Psalm 23
“1 The Lord is my shepherd; I shall not want.

2 He maketh me to lie down in green pastures: he leadeth me beside the still waters.

3 He restoreth my soul: he leadeth me in the paths of righteousness for his name's sake.

4 Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil: for thou art with me; thy rod and thy staff they comfort me.

5 Thou preparest a table before me in the presence of mine enemies: thou anointest my head with oil; my cup runneth over.

6 Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life: and I will dwell in the house of the Lord for ever.”

Psalm 1
“Blessed is the man that walketh not in the counsel of the ungodly, nor standeth in the way of sinners, nor sitteth in the seat of the scornful. But his delight is in the law of the Lord; and in his law doth he meditate day and night. And he shall be like a tree planted by the rivers of water, that bringeth forth his fruit in his season; his leaf also shall not wither; and whatsoever he doeth shall prosper. The ungodly are not so: but are like the chaff which the wind driveth away. Therefore the ungodly shall not stand in the judgment, nor sinners in the congregation of the righteous. For the Lord knoweth the way of the righteous: but the way of the ungodly shall perish.”

Child of God, who is your counsel in these trying times? Do you walk after the counsel of the ungodly or after our Heavenly Father?

Maybe a better question would be: Does God use the ungodly to counsel His people? Well, of course He does. We seek counsel for our health from ungodly medical professionals, our auto mechanic maybe an ungodly person, the vast majority of the stores and restaurants we frequent are owned and operated by ungodly people, our jobs, any number of professionals we may deal with on a daily basis are ungodly people. But when the counsel of the ungodly is against the commandments of God and/or their counsel attempts to take us away from our duties to our Lord do we follow? Are we not to follow God rather than man? Has God changed His mind? Is it now okay to stray from God's Word and follow the word of ungodly men instead?

It really concerns me to see God's people follow the counsel of government officials who have spent their whole careers fighting for the murder of the unborn and fighting to destroy the Godly foundations of our nation and our families. But now we are told these people, all of a sudden, have our best interest at heart?

Please know that I understand there are those who are susceptible to illness and have weak immune systems. There are also those who have those same people in their care. If God has given you some common sense use it. But it should not take the counsel of the ungodly to persuade us or to force us. If you are sick stay home. If you are susceptible to illness, stay home. If you are a caretaker of these, stay home. God understands. If you know these types of people, stay away. Call or email or message and let them know you are praying for them. But if we are healthy enough to go to work and out to eat and out to shop we have no excuse to not be about the Lord's business. God also knows when our fears are driven by ungodly counsel and not by the fear of the Lord. Whether we are willing to admit it or not.

“Therefore the ungodly shall not stand in the judgment, nor sinners in the congregation of the righteous. For the Lord knoweth the way of the righteous: but the way of the ungodly shall perish.”

Matthew 10:28
“And fear not them which kill the body, but are not able to kill the soul: but rather fear him which is able to destroy both soul and body in hell.”

It's a sad thing when God's people fear His creation more than the Creator Himself. Where is our hope? Is it in man or God? Who gave us eternal life? Who saved us from our sins? It was our Heavenly Father through His Son by His Holy Spirit. Let us not forget in these trying times that it is in the will of God we must put our trust and not the will of man.

Job 19:25-27
“25 For I know that my redeemer liveth, and that he shall stand at the latter day upon the earth:

26 And though after my skin worms destroy this body, yet in my flesh shall I see God:

27 Whom I shall see for myself, and mine eyes shall behold, and not another; though my reins be consumed within me.”

As I read the messages out there from some of God's people these past few days I wonder if we have forgotten that our Redeemer liveth and if we even remember who our Redeemer is? So many of God's people have put more faith and trust in our government than in Jesus Christ. It's no wonder we are seeing our once great nation stumbling at every step she takes.

Yes, I get it, our Lord can and does use our government to the advantage of His people. But, His people must remember it is not our government in which we are to put our faith and trust. Our faith and trust must be in our Lord and Savior and in Him only. Our Lord is the King of kings, only He can turn the heart of the king whether soever He wills. Our Lord is the Great Physician, only He has to power to heal from the worst of diseases of the flesh and the spirit. Follow Christ!!!

As my dear brother Matthew Stepp often says: “Fear Him!!!”

John 15:7
“If ye abide in me, and my words abide in you, ye shall ask what ye will, and it shall be done unto you.”

Notice in this verse there are stipulations on prayer. First we must abide in Christ. Second the Words of Christ must abode in us. It is then and only then that we will know what to pray for and it is then and only then that we can expect the answer we desire.

So many today are so willy-nilly with their prayer life. Many who claim the name of Christ but never follow His commandments or truly seek His face. Our prayers are not an open check book for what we want in this life. I believe we have forgotten what privilege we have to go to our Heavenly Father with our petitions.

If we are going to expect a blessing in this life as a result of our prayers then we must abide in Christ and His Words must abide in us. Take your prayer life seriously and not as a thing of pride in front of others. Communication with our Heavenly Father must not be our last resort but our first line of defense against the arrows shot at us by the god of this world. Pray without ceasing!!!

Psalm 34:4
“I sought the Lord, and he heard me, and delivered me from all my fears.”

James 5:13-16
“13 Is any among you afflicted? let him pray. Is any merry? let him sing psalms.

14 Is any sick among you? let him call for the elders of the church; and let them pray over him, anointing him with oil in the name of the Lord:

15 And the prayer of faith shall save the sick, and the Lord shall raise him up; and if he have committed sins, they shall be forgiven him.

16 Confess your faults one to another, and pray one for another, that ye may be healed. The effectual fervent prayer of a righteous man availeth much.”

God has made provision for His people in everything we will experience in this life. In all our trials we go through our Lord commands us to pray. But not only to pray for ourselves but also for one another. As children of God we are commanded to pray for our brothers and sisters. When we know our heavenly family is struggling with sickness or finances or other stresses, whatever their trials may bring, we must pray for them.

In this time of hysteria we are now in, with a virus that seems to be sweeping across the globe. God has made provision for His people. No where are we told to panic and fret. No! We are commanded to stand firm on our faith and pray.

Have you ever noticed how when the godless society in which we live is in a panic their first reaction is to turn to science or medicine or government or a combination of all. And yet God's people will blindly follow right along. Even when the very Word of God they claim to read daily tells them to be separate from the world and pray.

Folks, the reality is that no matter how bad things get in this old world only God knows our appointed time of death. But, God has also given us what we call common sense. Be careful, if someone is sick stay away as much as possible. Don't live in fear of the panic this world is in. Fear Him and only Him and He will guide you and direct you in the way He would have you to go.

16 For verily he took not on him the nature of angels; but he took on him the seed of Abraham.

Daniel 6:7
“All the presidents of the kingdom, the governors, and the princes, the counsellors, and the captains, have consulted together to establish a royal statute, and to make a firm decree, that whosoever shall ask a petition of any God or man for thirty days, save of thee, O king, he shall be cast into the den of lions.”

Are we not seeing this very thing today? As a nation that once prided herself as “One Nation Under God” we are seeing great division amongst the people. Many of the godly morals we once thought untouchable because of our “Godly American Heritage” are now turned to dust. Don't misunderstand, I am not referring to our “king”(President) but rather to our government representatives as a whole. In our nation we are not bound just to a “king” but we have three branches of government. At times, all three fighting for power over the other to rule the people as they see fit. As citizens of the United States of America we are bound to the “king” in Washington D.C., all three branches as a whole.

Notice our text verse how it was the lower forms of government who made the statutes and not the king himself. Of course they did it thinking these statues would be pleasing and honoring to the king. As we see in the lower courts of our nation. We see the moral fabric of our society being besieged by government authorities who are doing what they can to please the leadership in Washington. No longer are the citizens represented by godly thinking people who will uphold the laws of the land and stand by the oath of office they take with their hand on a Bible. Instead we are ruled by representatives of satan, the god of this world.

Almost daily we read in the news of those who take a stand for their rights as citizens of this nation and take a stand for the godly morals our fore fathers fought and died for. Just this past week we saw where a so called “woman of faith” accused those standing for our religious freedoms as being bigoted and raciest for standing against what God clearly calls abominations in His Word. She being a “devote Catholic”(her own words not mine), would have, at one time been ostracized by her own “church”. But with her new-found fame and fortune and with the potential to bring money into the religious organization she belongs, very little or nothing will be said. And note that this is just one example. She is just the current mouth-piece of this movement to remove God from every aspect of our nation.

We are seeing our laws on morality being rewritten in such away that now God's own people are living against the law of the land if they are to follow the statutes and commands of our Creator. We see, even those representatives who claimed the name of Christ while running for office do little or nothing to put a stop to the tearing apart of our nations moral fabric and the crimialization of the laws of God upon which our nation was founded. Very few in our three branches of government are willing to stand in the gap and take a stand for our Godly Heritage. And those that are have very little support from their colleagues.

The current push toward socialism then on to communism is a ploy by Ole Slew Foot himself to remove the memory of the one and only true God and to replace Him with the new god of governmental control. Satan's attempt is to squash out the remnant of the Lord's churches left in the Land of the Free and the Home of the Brave. For you see it will only be those who will stand for the truth of God's Word who will be truly effected by all these changes. The religious world known as “Christianity” will adjust and conform and will eventually go along as they have all down through history.

Child of God, keep looking up. Luke 21:28 “And when these things begin to come to pass, then look up, and lift up your heads; for your redemption draweth nigh.” Psalm 121:1-3 “I will lift up mine eyes unto the hills, from whence cometh my help. Ecclesiastes 5:1-7
1 Keep thy foot when thou goest to the house of God, and be more ready to hear, than to give the sacrifice of fools: for they consider not that they do evil.

2 Be not rash with thy mouth, and let not thine heart be hasty to utter any thing before God: for God is in heaven, and thou upon earth: therefore let thy words be few.

3 For a dream cometh through the multitude of business; and a fool's voice is known by multitude of words.

4 When thou vowest a vow unto God, defer not to pay it; for he hath no pleasure in fools: pay that which thou hast vowed.

5 Better is it that thou shouldest not vow, than that thou shouldest vow and not pay.

6 Suffer not thy mouth to cause thy flesh to sin; neither say thou before the angel, that it was an error: wherefore should God be angry at thy voice, and destroy the work of thine hands?

7 For in the multitude of dreams and many words there are also divers vanities: but fear thou God.”

“30 And many other signs truly did Jesus in the presence of his disciples, which are not written in this book:
31 But these are written, that ye might believe that Jesus is the Christ, the Son of God; and that believing ye might have life through his name.”

As children of God the Book of John ought to be near and dear to our hearts. It should be the first book of the Bible read by a new born saint. As we grow and mature in God's Word it ought to be the book we go back to for nourishment and refreshing. John, the disciple whom Jesus loved, wrote much about the love our Lord has for His people and how His people are to love one another.
