Morning Devotional July 1, 2024

 

Matthew 22:34-40

“34 But when the Pharisees had heard that he had put the Sadducees to silence, they were gathered together.

35 Then one of them, which was a lawyer, asked him a question, tempting him, and saying,

36 Master, which is the great commandment in the law?

37 Jesus said unto him, Thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy mind.

38 This is the first and great commandment.

39 And the second is like unto it, Thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself.

40 On these two commandments hang all the law and the prophets.”

I find it almost comical but in all seriousness I find it sad that there are those out there who will take the Word of God and try to prove the hatred of Landmark Sovereign Grace Baptist(LSGB) against those whom we differ from theologically. This talk has become ridiculous and heartbreaking. I will say this, though many of us do not like the fact that there are some in recent years who have fallen away from “the faith which was once delivered unto the saints.”, I know of no one in our fellowships who has said they hate those who has caused us grief and disappointment.

The distancing of fellowship or breaking of fellowship by most LSGB towards those who have chosen to follow other religious orders and creeds does not mean we hate those folks. The lack of fellowship is not a thing of hatred towards anyone, but rather the making a statement that we disapprove of their following of false doctrine and the apparent sowing of discord among the brethren.

Over and over again, we are commanded in the Scriptures to have no fellowship with those who preach false doctrine. Never are we told to hate the one preaching such. And yet we are accused of the very thing that is done unto us.

Because we take a stand and fight back against the professors of false doctrine we are considered haters and not lovers of our brethren. It is truly a sad day when those who have left the truth will preach that those who refuse to follow after their every whim are full of hatred simply because we take a stand for “the faith which was once delivered unto the saints.”

If any who fit this mold are reading this; Brothers, know and understand we do not hate you but rather love you in Christ and pray for you often.
