John 19:25-27
“25 Now there stood by the cross of Jesus his mother, and
his mother's sister, Mary the wife of Cleophas, and Mary Magdalene.
26 When Jesus therefore saw his mother, and the disciple
standing by, whom he loved, he saith unto his mother, Woman, behold thy son!
27 Then saith he to the disciple, Behold thy mother! And
from that hour that disciple took her unto his own home.”
What a glorious message we see from Jesus in the last few
moments of His life on this earth. As Jesus is dying on the cross, not long
before He gives up the ghost and the spirit of life leaves His earthly body to
enter Paradise for the next three days while His body will lie in wait in the
tomb, Jesus honors His mother Mary by leaving her in the care of His most
trusted Disciple John. Jesus proclaims His mother Mary is now to be as a mother
to John and John is to honor Mary as his own mother. So much so, John moves
Mary into his own home so he can properly care for her. Not only is this a
great honor and a show of trust for John but we see Jesus practice what He had
preached. Honor thy Father and Mother.
Today is the day the world has set aside to honor Mothers.
How will you honor your mother today?
Praise ye the Lord!!!
