Psalm 46:1-3
“God is our refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble. Therefore will not we fear, though the earth be removed, and though the mountains be carried into the midst of the sea; Though the waters thereof roar and be troubled, though the mountains shake with the swelling thereof. Selah.”

Praise God for His mercy and grace on His people!!! Follow Christ!!! Seek Him and Him only in time of trouble and in time of need!!! But not only during time of trials and persecutions. Seek Christ and follow Christ always!!!
2 Corinthians 12:9
“And he said unto me, My grace is sufficient for thee: for my strength is made perfect in weakness. Most gladly therefore will I rather glory in my infirmities, that the power of Christ may rest upon me.”

Colossians 1:9-18
“9For this cause we also, since the day we heard it, do not cease to pray for you, and to desire that ye might be filled with the knowledge of his will in all wisdom and spiritual understanding;
10That ye might walk worthy of the Lord unto all pleasing, being fruitful in every good work, and increasing in the knowledge of God;
11Strengthened with all might, according to his glorious power, unto all patience and longsuffering with joyfulness;
12Giving thanks unto the Father, which hath made us meet to be partakers of the inheritance of the saints in light:
13Who hath delivered us from the power of darkness, and hath translated us into the kingdom of his dear Son:
14In whom we have redemption through his blood, even the forgiveness of sins:
15Who is the image of the invisible God, the firstborn of every creature:
16For by him were all things created, that are in heaven, and that are in earth, visible and invisible, whether they be thrones, or dominions, or principalities, or powers: all things were created by him, and for him:
17And he is before all things, and by him all things consist.
18And he is the head of the body, the church: who is the beginning, the firstborn from the dead; that in all things he might have the preeminence.”

We are encouraged to pray for the Lord's Saints. Remember your brothers and sisters who are in need. Those who are in grief or pain of some sort. Be an encouragement and let them know you are praying for them.

Praise ye the Lord!!!

Genesis 3:19
“In the sweat of thy face shalt thou eat bread, till thou return unto the ground; for out of it wast thou taken: for dust thou art, and unto dust shalt thou return.”

For lest we forget from whence we come. “For dust thou art, and unto dust shalt thou return.” In our sin we are no better than dust. Without Christ we are nothing but dust. Without Christ we are nothing and have nothing. O what a sad state to be in!!! If not for the Grace of God there go I!!!
Praise God for His Free and Sovereign Grace!!!

Psalm 50:14-15
“Offer unto God thanksgiving; and pay thy vows unto the most High: And call upon me in the day of trouble: I will deliver thee, and thou shalt glorify me.”

O child of God, where are your thoughts this morning? As we end the week and look toward the beginning of another tomorrow. Are we giving God the thanksgiving we should? Are we even trying?
Give all honor and glory to God today. Not just the good things and what we consider blessings. But remember also the trials and tribulations and persecutions we go through in this life. Remember it is they that our Heavenly Father uses to teach us and to strengthen our faith in Him.
Give thanks unto God and glorify His name is all things today and every day.

John 17:11-24
“11And now I am no more in the world, but these are in the world, and I come to thee. Holy Father, keep through thine own name those whom thou hast given me, that they may be one, as we are.
12While I was with them in the world, I kept them in thy name: those that thou gavest me I have kept, and none of them is lost, but the son of perdition; that the scripture might be fulfilled.
13And now come I to thee; and these things I speak in the world, that they might have my joy fulfilled in themselves.
14I have given them thy word; and the world hath hated them, because they are not of the world, even as I am not of the world.
15I pray not that thou shouldest take them out of the world, but that thou shouldest keep them from the evil.
16They are not of the world, even as I am not of the world.
17Sanctify them through thy truth: thy word is truth.
18As thou hast sent me into the world, even so have I also sent them into the world.
19And for their sakes I sanctify myself, that they also might be sanctified through the truth.
20Neither pray I for these alone, but for them also which shall believe on me through their word;
21That they all may be one; as thou, Father, art in me, and I in thee, that they also may be one in us: that the world may believe that thou hast sent me.
22And the glory which thou gavest me I have given them; that they may be one, even as we are one:
23I in them, and thou in me, that they may be made perfect in one; and that the world may know that thou hast sent me, and hast loved them, as thou hast loved me.
24Father, I will that they also, whom thou hast given me, be with me where I am; that they may behold my glory, which thou hast given me: for thou lovedst me before the foundation of the world.”

1 Corinthians 10:13
“There hath no temptation taken you but such as is common to man: but God is faithful, who will not suffer you to be tempted above that ye are able; but will with the temptation also make a way to escape, that ye may be able to bear it.”

Praise God for His faithfulness to us!!! Praise God for His unending mercy and grace and love toward us!!!

1 Thessalonians 5:11
“Wherefore comfort yourselves together, and edify one another, even as also ye do.”

As God's children we are taught to love one another and to show compassion on our brothers and sisters in Christ. Especially when they are going through trials and persecutions. Just as we ourselves desire compassion from others when we are suffering so should we have a desire to be the same to others.
I wonder sometimes if we forget we are family? Christ taught us we are to be closer to our spiritual family than we are our earthly family. But are we? As I have stated many times and as God's Word commands, we must follow Christ in all parts of our life. And yes, that includes in our love for the Saints.
Remember, the world is watching. We may not always see them watching but they are watching. They watch to see how we treat our brothers and sisters in Christ. They watch how we walk and how we talk and how we conduct ourselves in private and in public. And when the opportunity arises they will point out our faults and try to ruin our witness for Christ. But is it the world that ruins our witness? Or is it we ourselves?
When we see a brother or sister suffering, whether it is physical, mental, or spiritual, drop them a note to show you care and are praying for them. Give them a call or go by and visit with them. Show compassion for your family. Be thankful to God you are part of His family.

Praise ye the Lord!!!

Jeremiah 18:11-12
“11 Now therefore go to, speak to the men of Judah, and to the inhabitants of Jerusalem, saying, Thus saith the Lord; Behold, I frame evil against you, and devise a device against you: return ye now every one from his evil way, and make your ways and your doings good.
12 And they said, There is no hope: but we will walk after our own devices, and we will every one do the imagination of his evil heart.”

I will first note that we know the Lord is speaking directly to “ the men of Judah, and to the inhabitants of Jerusalem” in this context. But we also know these things are an example for us today also.
It seems almost every day we see or hear in the news media of some event or an issue that 10-20 years ago we would have never dreamed we would see in our live time. Yet here we are.
Like the people in Jeremiah's day, we, in this country have seen a downward spiral in morality that is gaining speed as it falls. The push over the past 50 or so years to rid our public venues of anything to do with God and/or His Son was not the beginning as many say today. Put rather the teaching of ungodly values and life styles by the entertainment industry, I believe may have been the beginning. The movie and TV moguls from the very beginning have pushed the envelope on sensuality in their productions. Even in the early days of moving pictures their main audience was the bars and pubs and back room speak easy of the early 1900s.
But even before moving pictures, plays and dramas and operas and traveling stage acts were known by most Christians to be full of ungodly people with very little to no godly morals. And most Christians in those days shunned those types of people and places. But, like Israel and Judah, God's people have followed the enemy of God. They have followed the way of the world and love to have it so. False teachers and false preachers have crept in unawares and lead the people astray. But only because they tickled the ears of the people and the people loved it.
Like the people of the Lord mentioned in the verses above, God's people today have been told the truth. How many do we know who say they read the Bible daily or they say they read the Bible through in a year? But where is the evidence that they have paid attention to what they have read? How many we know who have set in church for years but never listened to the words being taught?
What about ourselves? Are we guilty of the same? Can we truly say we have not followed the world in some areas of our lives? And, yes, I said “areas”, plural! Are we the witness for Christ for those around us like we should be?
O child of God, it is we who have failed our Lord. We must remember it is us who are His people and not the people of the world. It is us who is to set the example for, not only each other, but also to the world. Or Lord gave us a nation in which we have more freedoms than any other nation in the history of the world has had and we have squandered it and laid it to waste. God's own people, as in Israel and Judah in the Old Testament, have forsaken our Lord and His commandments for the idols and false gods of the world. By doing so we have given over what our Lord gave us as a sacrifice to the devil himself.
The imagination of the evil hearts of man have taken the opportunity and ran with it all the way to the bank. We are seeing a repeating of history. As in the days of Noah and as in the days of Lot. These days are here.
We are now in a battle to try and save what little is left of what once was in this land. Do we fight or do we lay down and take the beating?
Christian, put on the Whole Armour of God!!! Ready for the battle to come!!! Until our Lord's return, we are commanded to fight the good fight. Pray without ceasing. Follow Christ our Great Captain into the battle. Forsake the ways of the world and follow Christ at all cost!!!

Praise ye the Lord!!!

John 8:36
“If the Son therefore shall make you free, ye shall be free indeed.”

We hear much talk of liberty today. Whether it is from the secular world or from the religious world. Man's desire to be free to do as he pleases is an age old dream in every society and nation.
Here in the United States of America we have been blessed of God to have had founding fathers who looked to God and His Word for guidance in starting a nation whose very founding was upon the laws and commandments of God. It can be seen in their personal letters and writings and is very evident in the official documents they wrote such as the Declaration of Independence and in our Constitution. It can be seen in the form of government they tried to establish and in the laws that they set in place. The founding of our nation was saturated with the Word of God. The Word of God is in every aspect and every precept in the early days.
Yet for as long as I can remember there has been those who will deny this very fact. There are those, sadly most of those in power today, will deny any reliance on God and His Word by our founding fathers. Folks, it takes a totally ignorant person to not see the hand of God in the founding of this nation.
Now, on this day that we remember the day that our founding fathers ratified their declaration of independence from Great Britain, who do we give the honor and glory? Do we give it our founding fathers? No. Of course not. They were simple, sinful men. We see the sins of these men. Those trying to destroy our Godly Heritage have pointed out their sins in an attempt to destroy the idea of a Godly Heritage. We give all glory and honor to God for the founding of our nation. We give God praise and admiration for guiding and directing those men who wrote of our Heavenly Father and how He was their guide and their example for founding our nation.
And lest we forget, they were not afraid to mention how none of this would have been possible without our Lord Jesus Christ. They knew without Jesus Christ man was nothing and could do nothing in this life. They were not afraid to proclaim the name of Jesus Christ and His Gospel to the nation and to write it so that the future generations would see and hear the gospel. And yet we see today the very descendants of these men deny the Lord their forefathers so bravely and boldly proclaimed.
I leave you a prayer from our first President:
“Oh, eternal and everlasting God, direct my thoughts, words and work. Wash away my sins in the immaculate blood of the Lamb and purge my heart by Thy Holy Spirit. Daily, frame me more and more in the likeness of Thy son, Jesus Christ, that living in Thy fear, and dying in Thy favor, I may in thy appointed time obtain the resurrection of the justified unto eternal life. Bless, O Lord, the whole race of mankind and let the world be filled with the knowledge of Thee and Thy son, Jesus Christ.”
– George Washington, Prayer
