1 Thessalonians 5:11
“Wherefore comfort yourselves together, and edify one
another, even as also ye do.”
As God's children we are taught to love one another and to
show compassion on our brothers and sisters in Christ. Especially when they are
going through trials and persecutions. Just as we ourselves desire compassion
from others when we are suffering so should we have a desire to be the same to
others.
I wonder sometimes if we forget we are family? Christ taught
us we are to be closer to our spiritual family than we are our earthly family.
But are we? As I have stated many times and as God's Word commands, we must
follow Christ in all parts of our life. And yes, that includes in our love for
the Saints.
Remember, the world is watching. We may not always see them
watching but they are watching. They watch to see how we treat our brothers and
sisters in Christ. They watch how we walk and how we talk and how we conduct
ourselves in private and in public. And when the opportunity arises they will
point out our faults and try to ruin our witness for Christ. But is it the
world that ruins our witness? Or is it we ourselves?
When we see a brother or sister suffering, whether it is
physical, mental, or spiritual, drop them a note to show you care and are
praying for them. Give them a call or go by and visit with them. Show
compassion for your family. Be thankful to God you are part of His family.
Praise ye the Lord!!!
