Psalm 62:1-2
“Truly my soul waiteth upon God: from him cometh my salvation. He only is my rock and my salvation; he is my defence; I shall not be greatly moved.”
Praise ye the Lord!!!
Praise ye the LORD. Praise God in his sanctuary: praise him in the firmament of his power. Praise him for his mighty acts: praise him according to his excellent greatness. Praise him with the sound of the trumpet: praise him with the psaltery and harp. Praise him with the timbrel and dance: praise him with stringed instruments and organs. Praise him upon the loud cymbals: praise him upon the high sounding cymbals. Let every thing that hath breath praise the LORD. Praise ye the LORD. Psalm 150
“6 This is he that came by water and blood, even Jesus Christ; not by water only, but by water and blood. And it is the Spirit that beareth witness, because the Spirit is truth.
7 For there are three that bear record in heaven, the Father, the Word, and the Holy Ghost: and these three are one.
8 And there are three that bear witness in earth, the Spirit, and the water, and the blood: and these three agree in one.
9 If we receive the witness of men, the witness of God is greater: for this is the witness of God which he hath testified of his Son.
10 He that believeth on the Son of God hath the witness in himself: he that believeth not God hath made him a liar; because he believeth not the record that God gave of his Son.
11 And this is the record, that God hath given to us eternal life, and this life is in his Son.
12 He that hath the Son hath life; and he that hath not the Son of God hath not life.
13 These things have I written unto you that believe on the name of the Son of God; that ye may know that ye have eternal life, and that ye may believe on the name of the Son of God.”
Read verse 10 very carefully. Before our salvation, our unbelief makes God a liar because we believe not the gospel of His Son, Jesus Christ. A thought that should strike fear in the very heart of any lost soul who reads this verse. To know we make the Creator of everything a liar because of our unbelief. What more damning accusation could there be against one who has refused to believe on the very Son of God?
Praise ye the Lord!!!
“8 If we say that we have no sin, we deceive ourselves, and the truth is not in us.
9 If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.
10 If we say that we have not sinned, we make him a liar, and his word is not in us.”
Praise ye the Lord!!!
“16 For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.
17 For God sent not his Son into the world to condemn the world; but that the world through him might be saved.
18 He that believeth on him is not condemned: but he that believeth not is condemned already, because he hath not believed in the name of the only begotten Son of God.”
All the fancies and fun times this world has to offer are but for a short time. They offer no real hope of joy and peace but only lead to destruction. It is only by believing on Jesus Christ that we have real hope. Not just joy and peace in this life but for life eternal. Without Jesus Christ all hopes we may have in this life will be dashed upon entering into eternity at death. If the Lord is calling you today then why do you wait? Believe on the name of the Lord Jesus Christ and be saved!!!
Praise ye the Lord!!!
“These things I have spoken unto you, that in me ye might have peace. In the world ye shall have tribulation: but be of good cheer; I have overcome the world.”
How often we forget where or from whom our true peace comes. In this year of so much turmoil God has proven to His people again that we cannot rely on our governments for our well-being and for true peace in this life. When the whole world seems to be against us. When our closest friends and family hide in fear of man made evils and we are ridiculed for making a stand for the truths of our Heavenly Father. Where do we turn? Do we follow the ever changing whims of our leaders whose only desire is the silence the Word of God? No! We look to the King of kings and the Lord of lords for our peace in the trials and tribulations we go through in this life. It is only through Him and by Him that His people can be of good cheer for it is Jesus Christ who has overcome the world!!!
Praise ye the Lord!!!
“15 Were they ashamed when they had committed
abomination? nay, they were not at all ashamed, neither could they blush:
therefore they shall fall among them that fall: at the time that I visit them
they shall be cast down, saith the Lord.
16 Thus saith the Lord, Stand ye in the ways, and see,
and ask for the old paths, where is the good way, and walk therein, and ye
shall find rest for your souls. But they said, We will not walk therein.
17 Also I set watchmen over you, saying, Hearken to
the sound of the trumpet. But they said, We will not hearken.”
As we near the
end of another year, and as we are in the midst of the time of year that many
will say there is a time of peace, we see anything but peace in our land. We
are a country where God's people want to claim “One Nation Under God”, yet have
a greater desire to live in abomination to the God they want to claim.
We have seen the
“old paths” and old ways being destroyed by the wicked and many of God's people
follow right along. We have witnessed a lack of faith in God amongst His
churches when it came to an illness that has proven to be no worse than any
other we have seen. And like Israel, God has sent watchmen who have sounded the
trumpet of warning but the people, God's people, “will not hearken.”
The Godly
heritage and foundations of our once great Republic are being ripped to shreds
by those who desire to see an end to God's very memory among our nation. They
desire a new nation without God or His Son Jesus Christ. And sadly God's own
people seem to love to have it so. We are so wrapped up in our abominations we
no longer care for the “old paths”. In the name of “Peace” we have given away
all the hard fought liberties and freedoms we as a people have taken for
granted. Will we fall like Israel and Judah? We are coming, rapidly, upon a day
when I believe we will find out.
“Even so, come,
Lord Jesus”!!!
Praise ye the
Lord!!!
“33 Teach me, O Lord, the way of thy statutes; and I
shall keep it unto the end.
34 Give me understanding, and I shall keep thy law;
yea, I shall observe it with my whole heart.
35 Make me to go in the path of thy commandments; for
therein do I delight.
36 Incline my heart unto thy testimonies, and not to
covetousness.
37 Turn away mine eyes from beholding vanity; and
quicken thou me in thy way.
38 Stablish thy word unto thy servant, who is devoted
to thy fear.
39 Turn away my reproach which I fear: for thy
judgments are good.
40 Behold, I have longed after thy precepts: quicken
me in thy righteousness.”
Praise ye the
Lord!!!
“13 But we are bound to give thanks alway to God for
you, brethren beloved of the Lord, because God hath from the beginning chosen
you to salvation through sanctification of the Spirit and belief of the truth:
14 Whereunto he called you by our gospel, to the
obtaining of the glory of our Lord Jesus Christ.
15 Therefore, brethren, stand fast, and hold the
traditions which ye have been taught, whether by word, or our epistle.
16 Now our Lord Jesus Christ himself, and God, even
our Father, which hath loved us, and hath given us everlasting consolation and
good hope through grace,
17 Comfort your hearts, and stablish you in every good
word and work.”
Praise ye the
Lord!!!
“Fear none of those things which thou shalt suffer:
behold, the devil shall cast some of you into prison, that ye may be tried; and
ye shall have tribulation ten days: be thou faithful unto death, and I will
give thee a crown of life.”
With all the
promises our Heavenly Father has given why do we still fear the things of this
life more than Him?
I believe the answer is
found in John 14:15-17: “15 If ye love me, keep my commandments. 16 And I will
pray the Father, and he shall give you another Comforter, that he may abide
with you for ever; 17 Even the Spirit of truth; whom the world cannot receive,
because it seeth him not, neither knoweth him: but ye know him; for he dwelleth
with you, and shall be in you.”
How is your love
for the Lord today? Enough that you are following His commandments? Or have you
forsaken the One whom you claim to love? Are you faithful unto death in Christ
or more faithful to your life in sin?
We all need to
consider these things.
Praise ye the
Lord!!!
“24 For we are saved by hope: but hope that is seen is
not hope: for what a man seeth, why doth he yet hope for?
25 But if we hope for that we see not, then do we with
patience wait for it.”
A lot of us are
putting more hope in things seen than things not seen today. More hope in the
physical than in the Spiritual.
Praise ye the
Lord!!!
“Be not hasty in thy spirit to be angry: for anger resteth in the bosom of fools.”
Praise ye the Lord!!!
“Better is the end of a thing than the beginning thereof: and the patient in spirit is better than the proud in spirit.”
Praise ye the Lord!!!
“The curse of the Lord is in the house of the wicked: but he blesseth the habitation of the just.”
As sinful men, oftentimes we look at the physical and not the Spiritual in matters. How often we look at the wicked of this world and covet what they have in physical possessions and wealth and health. Yet, we must understand what they have here in this life is the best they will ever have. This is their best life now. For once they leave this life all their riches and fame and health will be burned up.
But for the child of God, though we may suffer trials and tribulations in this life we know, without a doubt, that day is coming when we will share in the inheritance our Heavenly Father has for His children. An inheritance that is much more than any rich man could amass here on this earth. And it will not be temporary, but rather eternal!!!
Praise ye the Lord!!!
“18 For Christ also hath once suffered for sins, the
just for the unjust, that he might bring us to God, being put to death in the
flesh, but quickened by the Spirit:
19 By which also he went and preached unto the spirits
in prison;
20 Which sometime were disobedient, when once the
longsuffering of God waited in the days of Noah, while the ark was a preparing,
wherein few, that is, eight souls were saved by water.
21 The like figure whereunto even baptism doth also
now save us (not the putting away of the filth of the flesh, but the answer of
a good conscience toward God,) by the resurrection of Jesus Christ:
22 Who is gone into heaven, and is on the right hand
of God; angels and authorities and powers being made subject unto him.”
Praise ye the
Lord!!!
“When pride cometh, then cometh shame: but with the lowly is wisdom.”
Praise ye the Lord!!!
“He hath shewed thee, O man, what is good; and what doth the Lord require of thee, but to do justly, and to love mercy, and to walk humbly with thy God?”
Praise ye the Lord!!!
“By humility and the fear of the Lord are riches, and honour, and life.”
Praise ye the Lord!!!
“7 And he put forth a parable to those which were bidden, when he marked how they chose out the chief rooms; saying unto them.
8 When thou art bidden of any man to a wedding, sit not down in the highest room; lest a more honourable man than thou be bidden of him;
9 And he that bade thee and him come and say to thee, Give this man place; and thou begin with shame to take the lowest room.
10 But when thou art bidden, go and sit down in the lowest room; that when he that bade thee cometh, he may say unto thee, Friend, go up higher: then shalt thou have worship in the presence of them that sit at meat with thee.
11 For whosoever exalteth himself shall be abased; and he that humbleth himself shall be exalted.
12 Then said he also to him that bade him, When thou makest a dinner or a supper, call not thy friends, nor thy brethren, neither thy kinsmen, nor thy rich neighbours; lest they also bid thee again, and a recompence be made thee.
13 But when thou makest a feast, call the poor, the maimed, the lame, the blind:
14 And thou shalt be blessed; for they cannot recompense thee: for thou shalt be recompensed at the resurrection of the just.”
Praise ye the Lord!!!
“1 And I, brethren, when I came to you, came not with excellency of speech or of wisdom, declaring unto you the testimony of God.
2 For I determined not to know any thing among you, save Jesus Christ, and him crucified.
3 And I was with you in weakness, and in fear, and in much trembling.
4 And my speech and my preaching was not with enticing words of man's wisdom, but in demonstration of the Spirit and of power:
5 That your faith should not stand in the wisdom of men, but in the power of God.”
As with Moses in Exodus 4, Paul claimed to not be an eloquent speaker nor a highly intelligent man. This two giants among the saints were used greatly by God to lead his people in the time God appointed for them. Yet they both knew and were humbled by the fact that it was only by the grace of God that they were able to do what they did for the Lord in the ministry He gave unto them. Let us not forget from whom our speech and knowledge and wisdom comes from in those times when we are given the opportunity to share the gospel of Jesus Christ with a lost and dying world.
Praise ye the Lord!!!
“9 And he spake this parable unto certain which trusted in themselves that they were righteous, and despised others:
10 Two men went up into the temple to pray; the one a Pharisee, and the other a publican.
11 The Pharisee stood and prayed thus with himself, God, I thank thee, that I am not as other men are, extortioners, unjust, adulterers, or even as this publican.
12 I fast twice in the week, I give tithes of all that I possess.
13 And the publican, standing afar off, would not lift up so much as his eyes unto heaven, but smote upon his breast, saying, God be merciful to me a sinner.
14 I tell you, this man went down to his house justified rather than the other: for every one that exalteth himself shall be abased; and he that humbleth himself shall be exalted.”
One of the joys of being the pastor of one of the Lord's churches has been witnessing how most of our members live their lives. It is my belief in our day and time you will find a higher percentage of humble believers in the small congregations than in the larger congregations. And we are not void of our own “Pharisees”, even in the other churches we share close fellowship with I see very few. What a blessing it is to be surround by so many who think more highly of our Lord and Savior and His people than they do of themselves.
It always saddens me to hear a believer who is a braggart when it comes to the things they have been blessed with by the Lord but will seek for themselves the glory and then looks down on those who do not have so much. And even more so saddened by a man in the ministry who is a braggart and is not humbled by what the Lord has done for him in the ministry but will rather exalt himself. “For everyone that exalteth himself shall be abased; and he that humbleth himself shall be exalted.”
Praise ye the Lord!!!
“7 The law of the Lord is perfect, converting the soul: the testimony of the Lord is sure, making wise the simple.
8 The statutes of the Lord are right, rejoicing the heart: the commandment of the Lord is pure, enlightening the eyes.
9 The fear of the Lord is clean, enduring for ever: the judgments of the Lord are true and righteous altogether.
10 More to be desired are they than gold, yea, than much fine gold: sweeter also than honey and the honeycomb.
11 Moreover by them is thy servant warned: and in keeping of them there is great reward.
12 Who can understand his errors? cleanse thou me from secret faults.
13 Keep back thy servant also from presumptuous sins; let them not have dominion over me: then shall I be upright, and I shall be innocent from the great transgression.
14 Let the words of my mouth, and the meditation of my heart, be acceptable in thy sight, O Lord, my strength, and my redeemer.”
Praise ye the Lord!!!
