Isaiah 42:8

“I am the Lord: that is my name: and my glory will I not give to another, neither my praise to graven images.”

Pictures of someone pretending to be Jesus? Images of crosses? Images of so called angels? A so-called Christain Flag? How many different graven images do we see God's people praising? How many Landmark Sovereign Grace Baptist praise these or other graven images? At home, at the office, on social media, or even in the Church building?

Over and over and over God warns and forbids His people to praise or to even have in their possession graven images used in praise. And we see multiple examples of God not being happy with His people over this very issue. Yet, time and time again God's people follow after the traditions of Egypt, Babylon, and Rome.

It is high time the Lord's Churches make a stand for the truth and quit following the whines and imaginations of worldly religion. Just because it sounds good or it looks pretty or it makes you feel good, does not mean it pleases God. We are here to please God and to glorify His name before all the Earth. But if we are following the ways of sinful man how can we bring glory to God? How can we truly be the witness for Christ we are supposed to be?

Exam what you do. How is it with God's Word?

Praise ye the Lord!!!

Habakkuk 2:14

“For the earth shall be filled with the knowledge of the glory of the Lord, as the waters cover the sea.”

What a glorious day that will be!!! When all the earth will be filled with the knowledge of the glory of the Son of God!!! And when will this happen? In eternity. After God is done judging the wicked and they have been cast into the Lake of Fire for all eternity. After the New City of Jerusalem comes down and the Son of God and His Wife settle into their new abode and what we know as eternity begins. Israel will finally posses the whole of the Promise Land and there will be peace for evermore. God's people who are not part of His Church will come and go out of the Holy City to worship the King of kings and Lord of lords. Oh, what a glorious time that will be!!!

Praise ye the Lord!!!

Psalm 150:2

“Praise him for his mighty acts: praise him according to his excellent greatness.”

Are you praising God today? Not just today, but every day? On whom is your praise focused? Self? Another person? The things of this wicked world? Where do these come from and who has given them to you? Do we worship the creation more than the Creator? God has taught us in His Word; Who to worship, When to worship, and How to worship. So there can be no doubts and misunderstandings. We are to worship the Lord our God and Him only, We are to worship Him continually, and We are to worship Him with all our heart and all our soul and all our mind.

Our love for God and the worship of God must permeate every ounce of our being. The only way to achieve this is to follow Him in faith and in truth.

Praise ye the Lord!!!

Romans 8:37-39

“37 Nay, in all these things we are more than conquerors through him that loved us.

38 For I am persuaded, that neither death, nor life, nor angels, nor principalities, nor powers, nor things present, nor things to come,

39 Nor height, nor depth, nor any other creature, shall be able to separate us from the love of God, which is in Christ Jesus our Lord.”

Hebrews 10:19-25

“19 Having therefore, brethren, boldness to enter into the holiest by the blood of Jesus,

20 By a new and living way, which he hath consecrated for us, through the veil, that is to say, his flesh;

21 And having an high priest over the house of God;

22 Let us draw near with a true heart in full assurance of faith, having our hearts sprinkled from an evil conscience, and our bodies washed with pure water.

23 Let us hold fast the profession of our faith without wavering; (for he is faithful that promised;)

24 And let us consider one another to provoke unto love and to good works:

25 Not forsaking the assembling of ourselves together, as the manner of some is; but exhorting one another: and so much the more, as ye see the day approaching.”

Praise ye the Lord!!!

Hebrews 10:14-18

“14 For by one offering he hath perfected for ever them that are sanctified.

15 Whereof the Holy Ghost also is a witness to us: for after that he had said before,

16 This is the covenant that I will make with them after those days, saith the Lord, I will put my laws into their hearts, and in their minds will I write them;

17 And their sins and iniquities will I remember no more.

18 Now where remission of these is, there is no more offering for sin.”

The sacrifices commanded in the Law became null and void and no longer required after Jesus Christ made the ultimate sacrifice on the altar of the cross. Doing away with the need for God's people to offer sacrifices on an “old fashioned alter”. This talk today among some who claim to be saved we must walk an aisle and kneel and pray a “sinners prayer” at “old fashioned alter” is pure heresy and a doctrine of devils. First, there is no such thing as a "sinner's prayer" in God's Word. Second, there is no mention of any kind of altar in the New Testament churches. Both of these were conjured up in someone's mind in their defiance of God. And ever since people have fallen head over heels for these false doctrines. With no consideration for the simple truths presented in God's Word that say otherwise.

Praise ye the Lord!!!

Psalm 78:1-4

“1 Give ear, O my people, to my law: incline your ears to the words of my mouth.

2 I will open my mouth in a parable: I will utter dark sayings of old:

3 Which we have heard and known, and our fathers have told us.

4 We will not hide them from their children, shewing to the generation to come the praises of the Lord, and his strength, and his wonderful works that he hath done.”

In this chapter the Psalmist gives a rendition of the history of the Nation of Israel. He is reminding the people of God that even though they have sinned greatly against God, God still loves them as His children and God is still(at least at this time) giving His people in the nation guidance and direction.

Maschil of Asaph is given the duty of reminding the people of God of where they have come from and where they are currently and that it is all by the grace and mercy of God. This is a history lesson of how God has blessed them in the past and how He is willing to continue blessing them if they will only follow His law.

For the New Testament churches we see Peter and others preach of the past history of Israel. Paul writes of the history of Israel and of the Gentiles. Paul also instructs pastors to remind the brethren of the doctrines they have been taught and to share those doctrines with future generations.

The preaching of God's Word is just as important today as it was in the days of the Psalms. There is no instruction or command to stop the preaching of God's Word. To do so would be an abomination against God. But it must be preached in truth and light and not with our own ideas or private interpretations. God's Word is clear. If we love Him, we will follow His commandments and He will continue to bless. Follow Him not and how can we expect better than what He did with Israel at the hands of Babylon?

Praise ye the Lord!!!

John 10:22-42

“22 And it was at Jerusalem the feast of the dedication, and it was winter.

23 And Jesus walked in the temple in Solomon's porch.

24 Then came the Jews round about him, and said unto him, How long dost thou make us to doubt? If thou be the Christ, tell us plainly.

25 Jesus answered them, I told you, and ye believed not: the works that I do in my Father's name, they bear witness of me.

26 But ye believe not, because ye are not of my sheep, as I said unto you.

27 My sheep hear my voice, and I know them, and they follow me:

28 And I give unto them eternal life; and they shall never perish, neither shall any man pluck them out of my hand.

29 My Father, which gave them me, is greater than all; and no man is able to pluck them out of my Father's hand.

30 I and my Father are one.

31 Then the Jews took up stones again to stone him.

32 Jesus answered them, Many good works have I shewed you from my Father; for which of those works do ye stone me?

33 The Jews answered him, saying, For a good work we stone thee not; but for blasphemy; and because that thou, being a man, makest thyself God.

34 Jesus answered them, Is it not written in your law, I said, Ye are gods?

35 If he called them gods, unto whom the word of God came, and the scripture cannot be broken;

36 Say ye of him, whom the Father hath sanctified, and sent into the world, Thou blasphemest; because I said, I am the Son of God?

37 If I do not the works of my Father, believe me not.

38 But if I do, though ye believe not me, believe the works: that ye may know, and believe, that the Father is in me, and I in him.

39 Therefore they sought again to take him: but he escaped out of their hand,

40 And went away again beyond Jordan into the place where John at first baptized; and there he abode.

41 And many resorted unto him, and said, John did no miracle: but all things that John spake of this man were true.

42 And many believed on him there.”

What I'm getting from this passage this morning is that we see a people who claim to be the children of God, the Jews, questioning Jesus about him claiming to be the Christ. Asking Jesus to show them plainly or to make it clear to them. Yet, we know from reading the 4 Gospels He made it as clear and as plain as it could be put that He was the Christ. He also made it clear and plain several times that if they were not His elect they would not see the answer to their questioning.

Is it not the same today with the vast majority of the religious world? They want to claim the name of Christ but don't believe the Jesus in the 4 Gospel is the Christ. The Jesus who taught the multitudes and performed miracles and did and said other things that were humanly impossible for the common man in His day. To deny God's election and predestination of His people is to deny Jesus is the Christ. For if we say the doctrine of God's total and complete Sovereignty is false then we proclaim the Jesus of the Bible is not the Christ He claimed to be. For if we say the doctrine of Free Grace from God is false then we proclaim Jesus is not the Son of God as He proved in His time on this earth. To deny what we refer to as the Doctrine of Sovereign Grace is to deny the God we claim to be the children of.

O child of God, I beg you to flee the false doctrines and traditions of man taught by the religious world and follow after the truth taught by our Lord and Savior!!! Follow Jesus the Christ!!!

O friend, if you find yourself wrapped up in the same and claiming the name of Christ because of some false notion passed down from the former generation or because it feels good to think you are a Christain or because some preacher somewhere has convinced you that God loves everybody and so there is no need to love Jesus and follow Him as He commands in the Bible. You may claim the name of Christ but has Christ claimed you? If God is calling you unto salvation, answer that call today!!!

Praise ye the Lord!!!
