Morning Devotional May 15, 2022

1 Thessalonians 5:1-11

“1 But of the times and the seasons, brethren, ye have no need that I write unto you.

2 For yourselves know perfectly that the day of the Lord so cometh as a thief in the night.

3 For when they shall say, Peace and safety; then sudden destruction cometh upon them, as travail upon a woman with child; and they shall not escape.

4 But ye, brethren, are not in darkness, that that day should overtake you as a thief.

5 Ye are all the children of light, and the children of the day: we are not of the night, nor of darkness.

6 Therefore let us not sleep, as do others; but let us watch and be sober.

7 For they that sleep sleep in the night; and they that be drunken are drunken in the night.

8 But let us, who are of the day, be sober, putting on the breastplate of faith and love; and for an helmet, the hope of salvation.

9 For God hath not appointed us to wrath, but to obtain salvation by our Lord Jesus Christ,

10 Who died for us, that, whether we wake or sleep, we should live together with him.

11 Wherefore comfort yourselves together, and edify one another, even as also ye do.”

So many today are looking for signs and wonders of the Lord's return for His Bride and His people. I encourage you all to read this in it's context. So many will read verses 1-3 and stop and then base their whole theology of endtimes on those three verses. But notice 4 & 5. We who are children of light and children of the day, will not see His coming as a thief in the night. Why? Because the Lord's Bride is expecting His coming. Are we not told to watch and wait? Though we know not the day or the hour, it should be no surprise to us when Jesus does return in the clouds to call His Bride and her family unto Himself to go prepare for the wedding.

This weekend we are supposed to see another Blood Moon. And once again, the false prophets are out there making all kinds of predictions and preaching, writing books, and articles to fill their pocket books. And yes, once again many of God's people will naively follow the doctrines of devils instead of going to God's Word to see the truth.

In verse 1 Paul makes it clear that we are not to be concerned with the times or the seasons. Why? Because we are to always be ready to go. Have your bags packed and ready for when the Master calleth the Bride must be ready.

Praise ye the Lord!!!
