“6 For when we were yet without strength, in due time Christ died for the ungodly.

7 For scarcely for a righteous man will one die: yet peradventure for a good man some would even dare to die.

8 But God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us.

9 Much more then, being now justified by his blood, we shall be saved from wrath through him.

10 For if, when we were enemies, we were reconciled to God by the death of his Son, much more, being reconciled, we shall be saved by his life.

11 And not only so, but we also joy in God through our Lord Jesus Christ, by whom we have now received the atonement.”

John 5:24

“Verily, verily, I say unto you, He that heareth my word, and believeth on him that sent me, hath everlasting life, and shall not come into condemnation; but is passed from death unto life.”



The doctrine of eternal security in Jesus Christ is a very simple doctrine and is very clearly taught throughout God's Word. The words “eternal and everlasting” simply mean “forever” or “for all eternity”. When God says forever He means forever. The Gospel does not teach a temporary salvation or a conditional salvation, but rather teaches an eternal or everlasting salvation. Jesus called it eternal life because it is eternal life. The men God inspired to write the Bible called it eternal life because that was what God meant. If you don't understand the truth of eternal life or eternal security then how can you understand the truth of the Gospel of Jesus Christ?

1 Peter 5:1-9

“1 The elders which are among you I exhort, who am also an elder, and a witness of the sufferings of Christ, and also a partaker of the glory that shall be revealed:

2 Feed the flock of God which is among you, taking the oversight thereof, not by constraint, but willingly; not for filthy lucre, but of a ready mind;

3 Neither as being lords over God's heritage, but being examples to the flock.

4 And when the chief Shepherd shall appear, ye shall receive a crown of glory that fadeth not away.

5 Likewise, ye younger, submit yourselves unto the elder. Yea, all of you be subject one to another, and be clothed with humility: for God resisteth the proud, and giveth grace to the humble.

6 Humble yourselves therefore under the mighty hand of God, that he may exalt you in due time:

7 Casting all your care upon him; for he careth for you.

8 Be sober, be vigilant; because your adversary the devil, as a roaring lion, walketh about, seeking whom he may devour:

9 Whom resist stedfast in the faith, knowing that the same afflictions are accomplished in your brethren that are in the world.”

Morning Devotional September 18, 2024

 

Matthew 5:17-19

“17 Think not that I am come to destroy the law, or the prophets: I am not come to destroy, but to fulfil.

18 For verily I say unto you, Till heaven and earth pass, one jot or one tittle shall in no wise pass from the law, till all be fulfilled.

19 Whosoever therefore shall break one of these least commandments, and shall teach men so, he shall be called the least in the kingdom of heaven: but whosoever shall do and teach them, the same shall be called great in the kingdom of heaven.”



I read a lot of articles and post in different forms. From social media to religious newsletters. I also, from time to time, try to listen to sermons from other preachers. It amazes me at how little some are concerned with teaching/preaching the truth. So many today base their “new found doctrine” on their own thoughts and feelings or the thoughts and feelings of those they follow. The doctrine we teach/preach must be based on the Word of God and nothing else. I see men write and hear them preach things contrary to God's Word. I have tried to bring some of those things out in my own writings and preaching. It seems now more than ever God's people are seeking a voice to tickle their ears rather than prick their hearts. In the name of “Christian Liberty” so many are saying it is okay to live in sin and to follow after the ways of the world. With no concern for the rewards or lack of rewards our Heavenly Father has waiting for us.

In verse 19 in our text, Jesus says if we break just one of the smallest commandments and by doing so we teach others to do the same by our witness, we will loose rewards in the kingdom of heaven. Notice Jesus does not say we will lose our salvation. For that is impossible. He is referring to those who are saved. As God's children we are to be examples to our brothers and sisters. Living our lives, showing our love for Christ by following His commandments.

2 Timothy 3:10-17

“10 But thou hast fully known my doctrine, manner of life, purpose, faith, longsuffering, charity, patience,

11 Persecutions, afflictions, which came unto me at Antioch, at Iconium, at Lystra; what persecutions I endured: but out of them all the Lord delivered me.

12 Yea, and all that will live godly in Christ Jesus shall suffer persecution.

13 But evil men and seducers shall wax worse and worse, deceiving, and being deceived.

14 But continue thou in the things which thou hast learned and hast been assured of, knowing of whom thou hast learned them;

15 And that from a child thou hast known the holy scriptures, which are able to make thee wise unto salvation through faith which is in Christ Jesus.

16 All scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness:

17 That the man of God may be perfect, thoroughly furnished unto all good works.”



Whether we like it or not, many false doctrines have permeated our lives in such ways as we have been blinded to many simple teachings of God's Word. One such false doctrine is the Health and Wealth Gospel. The teaching that God wants His people to prosper in this life physically and financially with little to no vocus on the spiritual. Over and over in God's Word we see God warning His people of persecution and afflictions. Yet in our world today God's own people think they are immune to any persecutions or afflictions. All because we have been taught to strife to better ourselves in this world. But, how often we forget this world is not our home. We are strangers and pilgrims here. Or home is a much better place.

Even Paul, who most today consider the greatest of all the Apostles said he suffered. Simply because he stood for the truth of God's Word and because he boldly proclaimed the truth of the Gospel of Jesus Christ.

Are you willing to suffer for the truth? Or would you rather compromise for comfort?

22 Understanding is a wellspring of life unto him that hath it: but the instruction of fools is folly.

Galatians 3:15-29

“15 Brethren, I speak after the manner of men; Though it be but a man's covenant, yet if it be confirmed, no man disannulleth, or addeth thereto.

16 Now to Abraham and his seed were the promises made. He saith not, And to seeds, as of many; but as of one, And to thy seed, which is Christ.

17 And this I say, that the covenant, that was confirmed before of God in Christ, the law, which was four hundred and thirty years after, cannot disannul, that it should make the promise of none effect.

18 For if the inheritance be of the law, it is no more of promise: but God gave it to Abraham by promise.

19 Wherefore then serveth the law? It was added because of transgressions, till the seed should come to whom the promise was made; and it was ordained by angels in the hand of a mediator.

20 Now a mediator is not a mediator of one, but God is one.

21 Is the law then against the promises of God? God forbid: for if there had been a law given which could have given life, verily righteousness should have been by the law.

22 But the scripture hath concluded all under sin, that the promise by faith of Jesus Christ might be given to them that believe.

23 But before faith came, we were kept under the law, shut up unto the faith which should afterwards be revealed.

24 Wherefore the law was our schoolmaster to bring us unto Christ, that we might be justified by faith.

25 But after that faith is come, we are no longer under a schoolmaster.

26 For ye are all the children of God by faith in Christ Jesus.

27 For as many of you as have been baptized into Christ have put on Christ.

28 There is neither Jew nor Greek, there is neither bond nor free, there is neither male nor female: for ye are all one in Christ Jesus.

29 And if ye be Christ's, then are ye Abraham's seed, and heirs according to the promise.”

8 But the tongue can no man tame; it is an unruly evil, full of deadly poison.

9 Therewith bless we God, even the Father; and therewith curse we men, which are made after the similitude of God.

10 Out of the same mouth proceedeth blessing and cursing. My brethren, these things ought not so to be.

11 Doth a fountain send forth at the same place sweet water and bitter?

12 Can the fig tree, my brethren, bear olive berries? either a vine, figs? so can no fountain both yield salt water and fresh.”
