Matthew 5:17-19

“17 Think not that I am come to destroy the law, or the prophets: I am not come to destroy, but to fulfil.

18 For verily I say unto you, Till heaven and earth pass, one jot or one tittle shall in no wise pass from the law, till all be fulfilled.

19 Whosoever therefore shall break one of these least commandments, and shall teach men so, he shall be called the least in the kingdom of heaven: but whosoever shall do and teach them, the same shall be called great in the kingdom of heaven.”

I read a lot of articles and post in different forms. From social media to religious newsletters. I also, from time to time, try to listen to sermons from other preachers. It amazes me at how little some are concerned with teaching/preaching the truth. So many today base their “new found doctrine” on their own thoughts and feelings or the thoughts and feelings of those they follow. The doctrine we teach/preach must be based on the Word of God and nothing else. I see men write and hear them preach things contrary to God's Word. I have tried to bring some of those things out in my own writings and preaching. It seems now more than ever God's people are seeking a voice to tickle their ears rather than prick their hearts. In the name of “Christian Liberty” so many are saying it is okay to live in sin and to follow after the ways of the world. With no concern for the rewards or lack of rewards our Heavenly Father has waiting for us.

In verse 19 in our text, Jesus says if we break just one of the smallest commandments and by doing so we teach others to do the same by our witness, we will loose rewards in the kingdom of heaven. Notice Jesus does not say we will lose our salvation. For that is impossible. He is referring to those who are saved. As God's children we are to be examples to our brothers and sisters. Living our lives, showing our love for Christ by following His commandments.

Praise ye the Lord!!!
