Romans 8:28

“And we know that all things work together for good to them that love God, to them who are the called according to his purpose.”

What seemingly easy words to understand. Yet, how often we forget. If we are His elect, oh what love He has bestowed upon us!!!

Notice Paul writes “And we know”. But if we know why do we live as though we don't know?

God promises “all things work together for good to them that love God”. Do we really know and understand how deep the love of God is for His children? We sure don't show it much of the time.

We worry and fret over everything that comes before us in this life. Yet, we are told “all things work together for” our good.

We often quote this verse for thoughts of comfort. Comfort in knowing our God will bring us through whatever trial or tribulation is before us. But do we live it?

Lastly, we must not forget all these things that are working together for our good are according to His purpose. How often we seem to forget that last part. The trials and tribulations in our life here are meant to purge us of our sin and strengthen our faith in God and to draw us closer to Him.

Mark 13:32

“But of that day and that hour knoweth no man, no, not the angels which are in heaven, neither the Son, but the Father.”

Can you imagine the chaos that would be going on around us if God's people knew the day and the hour of our Lord's return? I wonder how many of us would leave the churches and follow after every earthly lust imaginable only to then return a few short days or hours before His return to repent and seek His face?

We like to think we would go about preaching the gospel to the lost and living a holy life. But would we really? As sinful men, it is best for us that we do not know the return of the Bridegroom for His Bride. We are instructed to work till He comes. We are commanded to prepare ourselves for His coming. These things we are to do as if His coming were to be at any moment.

Are you living like there is no tomorrow? Are you a faithful member of one of the Lord's Churches? If our Lord were to return today, this very hour, would He find us faithful?

Though we know not the day nor the hour, we must be prepared. If we expect to be in His Bride, we must have our bags packed and ready to go, in the blink of an eye. Our work for the Lord on this earth does not stop till He takes us through death or till He comes to take us to the wedding.

Praise ye the Lord!!!

John 16:33

“These things I have spoken unto you, that in me ye might have peace. In the world ye shall have tribulation: but be of good cheer; I have overcome the world.”

If you want peace in this life look to Christ in all things. If you are looking to the world, expect tribulations. It's that simple folks!

You will never have true peace of mind or peace of heart in this life if you are looking to world. Even a mixture of Christ and the world will not give you complete peace. It must be all or nothing.

Flee the lusts of this life, the worries of this life, and seek after Christ and Christ alone. He is the only way to true peace. He is the only one who can give true peace.

The worries and the cares of this life will drag you down and ruin your witness for Christ.

If you love Him, follow His commandments. If you will follow, He will give you peace.

Praise ye the Lord!!!

Luke 1:37

“For with God nothing shall be impossible.”

Oh how often we forget this promise!!! Or is it denial? We read of God's promises in our daily readings, we hear them preached from His pulpits, we even see them posted on social media. So is it forgetfulness or denial that we live our lives in such a way that it appears we have never heard or read of God's promises to His people?

Forgetfulness is one thing. In 1Timothy Paul instructs the young preacher, soon to be pastor, to remind the brethren of things. This is why a good minister will preach certain things over and over again. It is good for us to be reminded of the things of God. Especially His promises. That's why we preach the gospel over and over. Even when we feel certain the ones we are preaching to are already saved. We need to be reminded of the gospel and other doctrines from time to time.

But what about denial? How is denial different from forgetfulness? Denial of God and His Word is nothing less than rebellion against God Himself. When we refuse to follow the Lord but still seek His promises for His people, what kind of witness is this for those watching us? When God promises to take care of us in this life and we still worry and fret and seek counsel from everyone but from God's Word and yet we still expect Him to bless us and show mercy on us in difficult times. How is it we claim to love the Lord but we refuse to follow His commandments?

Jesus said “For with God nothing shall be impossible.” If we truly believe this our lives should reflect this. If not, do we truly love Him as we should?

Hebrews 2:1-4

“1 Therefore we ought to give the more earnest heed to the things which we have heard, lest at any time we should let them slip.

2 For if the word spoken by angels was stedfast, and every transgression and disobedience received a just recompence of reward;

3 How shall we escape, if we neglect so great salvation; which at the first began to be spoken by the Lord, and was confirmed unto us by them that heard him;

4 God also bearing them witness, both with signs and wonders, and with divers miracles, and gifts of the Holy Ghost, according to his own will?”

Mark 7:20-23

“20 And he said, That which cometh out of the man, that defileth the man.

21 For from within, out of the heart of men, proceed evil thoughts, adulteries, fornications, murders,

22 Thefts, covetousness, wickedness, deceit, lasciviousness, an evil eye, blasphemy, pride, foolishness:

23 All these evil things come from within, and defile the man.”

Remember the verse: Jeremiah 17:9 “The heart is deceitful above all things, and desperately wicked: who can know it?”

How often do we hear people try to blame satan for them committing sin? “satan made me do it.” or “ole satan really has a hold of me now!”

But what saith the Lord? It is what comes out of our own hearts that is defiled. Jeremiah called it “desperately wicked”.

Yes, satan introduced sin to Adam and Eve. But Adam willingly and knowingly committed sin. The sin that would doom every person from Adam and Eve to the last person born before the end of time. How often we forget satan is not omnipresent like God. Satan cannot be everywhere at the same time. Remember, he is a part of God's creation just as we are.

The good news is, even as wicked as we are or as we have the potential to be, we have something satan and his fallen angels do not have. We have a Saviour.

Jeremiah 17:10 “I the Lord search the heart, I try the reins, even to give every man according to his ways, and according to the fruit of his doings.” Romans 6:23 “For the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord.”

1 Peter 5:6-7

“6 Humble yourselves therefore under the mighty hand of God, that he may exalt you in due time:

7 Casting all your care upon him; for he careth for you.”

Why are we so reluctant to cast all our burdens upon the Lord? Why do we worry and fret for even the smallest of difficulties in our lives? Why do we often seek the help of the world instead of the help of God?

Could it possibly be the lack of humblness “under the mighty hand of God”?

Praise ye the Lord!!!
