Lamentations 4:17

“As for us, our eyes as yet failed for our vain help: in our watching we have watched for a nation that could not save us.”

In the days of Jeremiah the prophet, the people in Judah assumed they would never be overthrown because they were God's nation. After all, did not God protect them time and time again? From the time their forefathers fled from Egypt, God had always come to their rescue. But because of their unbelief and their spiritual adultery with false gods their God sent an enemy like they had never seen to destroy them. Not only did God destroy the cities of Judah, but also the Holy City of Jerusalem. The Temple, God's own house had been defiled by the sacrifices His people had made unto the false gods upon the very alters of God.

Do we really think God would not overthrow our nation? Are we so spoiled that we actually think we are really “One Nation Under God” and being a citizen of this nation will protect us from the chastisement of God upon His people when the time comes?

How foolish we must be to actually think God is not watching what His people stand for and support and what false gods we offer sacrifices to in our nation today. Our nation is not our savior.

The only hope for true peace we have in this life is to look to Jesus Christ. Our only true hope is that we know, one day, He will return for His people. Where will His people be found when He returns? Where will you be? Working in the fields or bowed down at the alter of a false god?

Flee the world and seek Jesus Christ. If ye love Him follow His commandments today.

Praise ye the Lord!!!
