“But the day of the Lord will come as a thief in the night; in the which the heavens shall pass away with a great noise, and the elements shall melt with fervent heat, the earth also and the works that are therein shall be burned up.”
What works is Peter referring to in the last part of this verse? I believe he is talking about the works of man. Everything man has built. Everything man has accumulated unto himself for himself. Have you ever heard the old saying “you can't take it with you”? Everything man has done to pollute God's creation will be burned up and the Lord will create a new heaven and a new earth.
